Watch the price!!

Post by karmathanever »

Locally, the Pa5x-76 prices have dropped by up to $1,000 by some retailers

A tiny price war looming here....

Could indicate a few things...

(A) "Korg PA5X" sales are slow...

(B) News through the back corridors, Yamaha are close to a new release to replace "GENOS"...

(C) "Ketron Event" generating much interest (as seen by numbers from PSR forum + YouTube etc)...

(B) Global Economic slowdown...

All the above in no particular order or combination...

P.s. OR........ Roland are going to surprise us with a the new top of the line Arranger incorporating Supernatural and Zen-Core (you can wake me up now)

I seem to remember that Australia Korg pricing was higher relative to other areas of the world. Is that true or am I mistaking? Maybe some proper adjustment is happening.

Or ( D) a fire sale because the goods are damaged and need to be heavily discounted to move the stock . The pa5x are damaged goods in a market that needs products to work as advertised . It simply does not .

You also see this kind of discount when businesses are having cash flow problems ….

Well, some people here said, Like we all are against to KORG, NO!
I just hate what they did this time.
I had so much expectications, BUT, non working, bad OS, and more destroyed all trust, i just wonder, WHY they did so.
it takes years to build that again.

Bad marketing, bad Unit, Badly OS, no idea of when and IF they will fix all, 1.0 was bad, 1.1 is not much either .

Simply LOSERS, this cant be fixed anymore.

On a direct exchange rate basis, we are currently cheaper than UK and about equal with USA with regard to the PA5x.

Usually we are a bit more expensive with instruments (using exchange rate) possibly due to import and shipping costs, however our cost of living is cheaper so all in all we don't do too badly.

PA5x is a 50% price increase compared to PA4x but think that applies everywhere....

The Pa5X is grossly overpriced.

A Pa4X here in the UK was £2500 pre covid.

Now a Pa5X is £3999

That is one hell of a chunk out of my pension.

The Nautilus started at £1999 and then dropped to £1550 pre covid.

The same with the 1000 & 700 both dropped by a reasonable percentage.

I’m in no hurry to buy a flawed product.

Right now you can buy a PA4x for $3799.00 US used verses $4,900.00 US new, so USA does not show a 50% price increase for the PA5X. Don't know how this relates to pricing for the rest of the world. There may be cheaper pricing out there but this reflects what I could find. 8)

Hi,
where I live in Aust. can’t buy PA4x’s any more readily than PA5x online, the odd one might crop up. Pa4x 76 note somewhere between $5,200 to $5,600, AUD. ON back order is the message. And that’s at discounted prices.
PA5x 76 note approx $7,200 at discounted prices. Again on back order.
best wishes

$5699 Cdn. for Pa4x-76 at Cosmo Music in Richmond Hill, Ontario.
Canada's other major retailer, Long & McQuade doesn't list a Pa-4x at all.
When I nod my head . . . Hit it!

Hi Ginger, yours are even more expensive than ours

Exchange rate is $1 Cad vs $1.09 Aud

USA. is $1 usd vs $1.48 Aud.

Too far back for me to remember what I paid for my Pa4x 61 note when they first hit the market, makes me wonder if Pa4x has gone up in price also.

Is it at all possible they have stopped making them?
I was going thru the website of the store where I bought my PA5x , (and all my other gear since the 80’s, ) they no longer list PA4x’s only pa1000 and PA5x’s, all on back order. They’re one of the largest Korg retailers in NSW.

Doesn’t look good for anyone wanting a “ new” Korg, either have to get a PA5x, or hope they can find someone wanting to sell their Pa4x.
best wishes

Originally paid AUD5100 for my PA4x-76 - local dealers just sold theirs (new) for AUD4999 and also during last 2 days sold PA5x-76 for AUD6999 - everything "back-order" again!!!
But some back-orders are now at reduced prices like AUD6600 for PA5x-76, AUD6200 for PA5x-61 and AUD7000 for PA5x-88

Price-matching will be fun when (if  ) the distributors get their stock!!!!

Hi Pete,
they haven’t dropped prices on my side of Aust. or at least not on the websites, behind closed doors they may do one a better deal, haha.
Yes going to be interesting.

I wonder if they have stopped production of PA4x’s, I would imagine when a new model is released they phase out the old?
best wishes

Yes - interesting question - it's weird that they will take backorders for PA4x - are they REALLY expecting more deliveries????
According to Korg's website, it is NOT discontinued and implied as "available"

All very curious eh!!!

Well, Pete, it wouldn't be a surprise to me at all.... About 80% of the music store websites in the Netherlands tell me the Pa4X still is available. 'Call us for details on date of delivery'. When I take a look at the Pa5X since its introduction it'd be a shame to Korg to discontinue such a successful keyboard like the Pa4X for benefit of a successor which has been a fault from the beginning. When you think a bit more out of the box: why is the PA1000 still be available at dealers without delivery time? The main board of the Pa1000 is practically the same as the of the Pa4X...
