Error Starting PL!

Post by Korgloveforever »

Hi all.

Please help if you know how to solve this!
I tried to load a new patch on my pa800 and it froze half way. So I had to power off and turn it on again. When I did that the operating system would freeze and wouldn’t load. So I tried to install a new OS by pressing intro 1 key while turning on the keyboard but that failed to work. So I started reading about this in different forums when I came accross a post suggesting formatting Nand. So I did that and I received a message saying "zero bad sectors".
After that I tried to hold Intro 1 while turning on to install a new OS but I keep getting an error saying “Error Starting PL!
I even tried 5 different usb drives, including and old 1 Gb one but no luck.
I am stuck here and I can’t get my keyboard working.

Please help if you know how to solve this problem.
Thank you in advance.

Seems like the cpu board has an issue.
I can't recall ever seeing the message you get but the description matches the behavior of a faulty cpu board

Thank you for the response but the keyboard was working just fine before the freezing and formatting nand. Do you think that formatiting NAND can cause damage to the cpu?
Is there any other way to try to instal OS on it? Any secret startups?

Most likely it froze cause of problem on the board (most likely cpu to nand communication as it froze on loading a patch).
You can try to reformat from the service menu but I think it is not allowed to share the way to do so here in public.

When I connect my pa800 to my computer my Computer recognizes 2 hard drives from korg. I believe one is called Korg System and the other one Lorg user. Is there a way that I can install OS into the korg using my computer?

Have you tried formatting the SSD - requires OS install afterwards....
