User Pads from Korg Pa3X not working

Post by GXG »

Hi! I own a Pa3X and a Pa5X. I saved my set, then loaded into a Pa4X, saved again, then imported into Pa5X with OS 1.1 (latest). I just discovered that none of my user pads coming from Pa3X, don't work at all, meaning they don't sing any note. If I go to Pad Edit, there all the pads sing ok, but when I come back to Style mode, no one sings. The only pads that play are factory ones and others imported from other Pa4x sets. Any ideas, please?

You have not loaded PCM , that's why custom Pad do not sound at all.

Pa3X resources are not supported but do the following and this might work for you.
- Make a copy of your Pa3X.SET in your PC/Mac , rename folder to Pa3X.KST
- Copy folder in a USB disk drive , place it in front Pa5X USB Slot and via FILE/DRIVES browse for Pa3X.KST
- Open it click on PAD folder and from upper screen nenu select Load.

In case that Pa5X do not directly load this kind of PAD format , then click on PCM folder , load them and
then try again converted PAD of your previous KST folder.

Hope this helps

Thanks, but it doesn't help. I have all the PCM loaded. I repeat: when I enter Pad Edit mode and try to play, they don't work. If I open Event Edit page and then return to playback page inside Pad Edit, they play, the pads have midi notes, User Tones and PCM. The moment I exit Pad Edit and select those pads (meaning all my user pads worked in the last 10 years in Pa3X), they don't play, even if the Style shows those 4 beats on the screen as if they were playing. I tried every possible solution. I also mention that when I did the import, the txt file stated PAD, no errors .... This is by far the worst keyboard ever. Do you - byany chance - happen to have some contact details of Korg developers? I intend to send them an extensive list of all the bugs I have encountered so far - unfortunately, there are bugs almost all over the place.

As I have mentioned , Pa3X resources are by definition not supported in Pa5X , even Pa4X resources do not yet ,
talking about a new Pa model and not a continuation of PaSeries and I just try to find a tricky solution for you.

Pad Editor is different in Pa5X , forget of what you knew with Pa3X and read manual of how things are going on there
if you see in any page midi events of Pads and samples of pads are loaded then you might manage to recreate Pads.
Also bear in mind that we're talking about 4 pads of styles and not 16 global key pads !

I have no public email , ask other users that they did communication.
But they are aware for most of issues since last year ...

I loaded my Pa3X Set into a Pa4X. There, User Pads are working. Then saved it as Pa4X Set, then imported into Pa5X, latest OS 1.1 What I see in Event Edit is CC 11 with value 127 grayed out. I assumed that if Pa5X doesn't receive that CC, that's why it doesn't play. But if I open a Factory Pad that works, it also shows CC11 grayed out... no idea.... I red the manual, didn't find anything to help me.
On top of that, the majority of my Pads were set on Fixed No Transpose. In Pa3X if I record a pad in key of C and then transpose +2, it will play D regardless of that chords I press on my left hand. In Pa5X it seems that Fixed No Transpose doesn't work, because it follows the chords on the left hand. I assume this is another huge error, based on User Manual page 792, where is written: Fixed No Transpose The programmed notes are never transposed when chords
are changed. They can’t even be transposed by the Master
Transpose. So, even if those pads played, I could't use them because they wouldn't play in the chord I intended them to be. I deelpy regret the decision on buying Pa5x, I will wait till the next OS and if the things don't solve, someone, somehow will be held accountable.

- Only Styles & Pads that are made from scratch in Pa4X work if converted not the ones that are just loaded from older PaSeries.
- If CC 11 is disabled then it's ignored and PAD plays other midi events , I don't use CC 11- 13 in pads & styles and all transferred
PADs from my Pa4X are working fine.
- In Sound engine CC 11 -13 controllers are working fine but edited in Pa5X.
- Imported custom Styles have the same issue of fixed transpose in INTRO1/END1 and can't be healed until this will be addressed
in next OS , but never noticed in any custom PAD.
- When a non-transpose code is injected in an style / pad element an involved code bug do not allow you to edit/heal it !

Thanks very much for reply, Antony! You are professional, as usual. I think from my heart that you are the best contributor with useful information, at least for the Korg arranger part of this forum. I found a lot of brilliant answers from you along the years, and I thank you for that! Sorry for my poor english
