Possible to add modulation/aftertouch to user samples?

Post by Dmkeys »

Is it possible to add aftertouch and modulation via pitch joystick to user imported synth samples? Thanks!

Yes, no problem at all, they are available as sources in the modulation matrix

Thanks so much for the quick response. What setting would I use to add modulation to a sampled synth that would be similar to the way it works on the onboard synth leads?I'm seeing lots of effects choices, like stompboxes/chorus/phaser etc., but not an LFO as I'd expect if I was programming a synth sound from scratch. (Sorry, I haven't programmed much in years and my programming chops are rusty.) Currently, both aftertouch and JS+Y do nothing and I'd love if both could be set to do this. thanks!

Qui did not meant FX but deep editing in SOUND mode & per OSC.
Aftertouch can't be applied at Y joystick but to LFO , as also +Y joystick.
+- Y also must be assigned to a function/AMS due to work else it does not.

If you do not have a clue in advanced Sound Editing , you have to study a lot Advanced Edit manual of PaSeries to see how
OSC/AMP/Pitch/Filter/LFO functions work and how to assign controllers/AT/Switches/Joystic to specific functions , there is not
a single button that will just enable such a function , there are plenty of parameters that you have to learn before trial and
test advanced edit.

Briefly , a non vibrato looped synth sample that uses one OSC (in SOUND MODE) can use 2 LFOs per OSC and a Global one for
all OSC , you have to open for instance LFO1 Page while in specific OSC , select LFO waveform/speed , then go to Pitch page
select the amount of LFO 1 that OSC will be modulated and then determine of what controller will handle modulation , AT/+Y/SW
via #CC etc.
Also in Pitch page you can assign -Y to linearly glide down an octave via sending pitch AMS to it -12 value and many others.

You can also follow the newbie easy (but not proper) way and add an Vibrato insert FX and set 100% amount to +Y.

Hope this helps
