Bass sound drastically changes when Manual Bass is ON..??
Hi everyone.
So I got the Korg PA5X (on the latest version) and I'm having problems with the Manual Bass which I used quiet often in the previous PA Models.
So when Manual Bass is switched on in my Korg PA5X for some reason it changes the sound of the bass. This only happens in user Styles. When I do it on a factory style it is the same sound as when Manual Bass is switched off and when it plays during the Style playback.
For better explanation I have attached this unlisted YouTube video here and you will get what I mean: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F-SwUPlcySo
This doesn't make any sense and it shouldn't happen. When I push the style to play, the Bass sound sounds as it is originally sampled, same as in Sound Edit mode. It's only when I switch to Manual Bass mode, the sound changes drastically.
Please anyone help with this?
Thank's to everyone in advance.
- Benny.

I've tried it over here and the sound doesn't change.
The only thing i can think off is that your selected bass sound has a velocity filter on it in the sound itself. So select another sound and see if it still is happening, if not, which sound do you use ? and then check in sound edit if these velocity assignments are made.
another possibility is that in the style you are testing it in, that the velocity is assigned as a source modulator for one of the insert effects. Then you can do these kind of things do (although this is intentionally programmed that way in that case).

Re: Bass sound drastically changes when Manual Bass is ON..?
In your video as in any style , bass is exactly the same in manual bass !benny7284 wrote: For better explanation I have attached this unlisted YouTube video here and you will get what I mean:

What is different ?
The playing velocity of yours ... if you harden your playing velocity then bass will sound the same
or reduce 30 value velocity of Style bass in Style velocity editor.
What is the right thing to do in this case ?
Create a manual bass split sound that suites your playing velocity and sound character and use it as a
KBD Set in Styles or save it as "My Settings".
Hope this helps

So I tried using a different sound, for example a factory one. And it changes the factory Bass sound as well. So it has something to do with the style but I don't get what is happening... I have 0 Insert Effects in none of the tracks of this style. Any idea what it could be..?AntonySharmman wrote:In your video as in any style , bass is exactly the same in manual bass !benny7284 wrote: For better explanation I have attached this unlisted YouTube video here and you will get what I mean:

I believe the issue is due to the conversion from Pa4x.
I had a different but similar problem in this thread: http://www.korgforums.com/forum/phpBB2/ ... p?t=129044
My issue was that the lower sound on some converted sounds was much louder. Even when i had the lower sound locked. I went into every setting possible and tried everything you can imagine (including range, velocity, sound edit, read the manual, etc.).
The only way I could resolve my problem was to call up a Sound Set that did not have that issue and load the upper 1/2/3 and lower sound that i wanted to replicate the original.
In your instance, you may have to load a style / sound that does NOT have this issue when you press manual bass and then change everything to what you want it to be.
I hope that's not confusing. If you need more help, I can support.

Manual Bass SOLVED
Manual Bass SOLVED.
I found the problem where it is in the bass manual, which is completely changing the sound of the original bass from Sound. This is a software problem and I hope they will fix it soon with the new OS, as well as many other problems that the synth has .I am surprised by the fact that no one except Benny who wrote here has noticed this problem,or maybe they didn't write, which is also presented by factory styles, their basses are the same as those in user sound, let alone more colleagues in the group who deal with programming , editing, etc. Anyway, all those who want to help you to use manual bass without changing the tone, write to me because I don't have time to explain it in a video. Greetings to all of you!
