Deleting a recorded song

Post by Obijohn »

I have started to save a few songs but now would like to delete some of the earlier recordings. When I try to do this, a box comes up saying that it will not delete any "files that are in use" which happens if I have played the recording anytime during that session. I have tried closing all the recording windows as well as the file windows but it still thinks the song file is in use so I am unable to delete it. My only way around this has been to shut down the machine and delete the song after I start it up again and have not played the file after start-up.
There must be a way to delete a recording and get around the 'file in use' problem without shutting down the whole machine?
Thanks for any help with this. 8)

I just discovered this same issue when attempting to replace a recording with a new take. I am offered the option to replace the existing file and choose 'Yes'. I then get a message box saying 'Any files in use were not overwritten,' meaning the old recording is still there an was not overwritten.
I am currently unable to delete or overwrite any MP3 files I have saved.
I have read through the manual and have not found any information. I would appreciate any help with this problem..

Help please. I am still stuck with this problem of being unable to delete MP3 songs I have recorded onto my SD card. I can select the song I want to delete, use the drop-down menu to choose 'Delete', and say 'Yes" when asked to confirm. Then a window pops up saying that "Files in use have not been deleted" which means the song is still there.
I have read through the manual numerous times and cannot find an answer to this so I would appreciate any help.
Thanks.

This happens (same error) on the PA4x when the MP3 you are deleting is still a selected one in one of the player(s)

Thanks karmathenever, your advice fixed the problem. I had assumed that was the issue but I could not figure out how to fix it. For anyone else who runs into this, the solution for me was to go to the active Player and switch it to Style instead of Song, choose a Style, and then play that Style for just a few seconds to make it active in the Player which eliminates the Song as being active.

Easy. Just go to the Matrix tab, then go to the far left of the display there is an arrow: touch it and it will go to a screen that has an edit button. Then choose any Matrix button on the screen and it will come up with a list to choose from.

I guess the OS locks the open file (in a player), similar to a PC. The strange part is, it does not happen with a style. The style can be edited and then resaved on itself!!
