FYI - re using Roland FC-300

Post by pax-eterna.1 »

It doesn't really work, as in its CC mode it can only send on one channel, and as Korg in their wisdom decided to make pedals and such respond on the Global channel and style controls respond on the Control channel, it means the FC-300 can only do one or the other.

AFAIK, the FCB can select MIDI channels, so you can use both the Control and Global channels at the same time. As evidenced from the Bonners video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XpjhY4PO8j0

FCB is a great foot controller but with no thanks to Korg and the PA5x, there are several pedal functions that you cannot assign (and of course, in keeping with Korg's "PA" arranger history, there's no MIDI information available)

Bonners (love 'em) great video (slightly misleading) - FCB does NOT replace the EC5's full functionality....

If I ever buy a PA5x, I'll have to come to terms with that as I would bet that it will never change.

Yes indeed!

I had high hopes for the FC-300, but as the PA separates the basic MIDI control functions over two channels, I'm stuck.

Behringer is way too big.

I am now hunting smaller options, viz airturn BT500 et al, to find one that can send on two or more channels at the same time.
