From reading the above comments my understanding is in the wording. The PaAs does work with the PA5x & I know several people who are using it.
I think what Korg are saying is that they are currently unable to manufacture NEW PaAs's due to component shortages. But owners that already have the speaker can still use iron the PA5x

Hi,
My PA5X 61 note works perfectly with my PaAS speaker.

Yep, I think that has already been established, thanks.

A few months ago I addressed the "lack of pros" no longer working at Korg. They all left Korg during the pandemic according to some of the merchant outlets that handled Korg. Since then we get what we get like the PA5 with all of its problems from the git-go. I still have not purchased the 5 yet. Still waiting for a possible break inn the action and the new folks at Korg learn their trade.

More EC5 stuff

Post by Rollybrick »

Hi
I'm relatively new to Korg (having come over from Yamaha) - and have just upgraded my PaX4 to the PaX5. At the risk of there being a collective sigh around the globe, I was going to add a new Ec5 topic…but it seems my moan about the lack of EC5 has been fully covered (heaven forbid manufacturers actually produce products that customers want!)

My question please, does anyone know the midi codes (if possible) to control the Ensemble and Transpose functions on the Pa5X
Thanks

Hi Rollybrick and welcome to our forums.
My question please, does anyone know the midi codes (if possible) to control the Ensemble and Transpose functions on the Pa5X
We have been asking Korg for this and similar MIDI data for several years, so sadly there is nothing available.
I wanted the MIDI codes for VAR-UP and VAR-DOWN (and others) - you can assign these functions to switches and single pedals on the PA5x but not a MIDI pedal.

I have the Behringer FCB1010 MIDI pedal and was hoping to resolve the missing EC5 by using it - not possible.
Maybe Korg will update the OS MIDI configuration to include these functions.

Cheers

If you think about how and why the MIDI code was made, you will realize that MIDI code doesn't exist for VAR1 or VAR2. That is probably why Korg made the EC5. Back then they weren't thinking about Arrangers. Yamaha with the Montage and even more so the Montage M had to do their own thing to create code that went way beyond the MIDI code which was only made to standardize some things between manufacturers of music equipment. I don't think back then they could conceive what is now needed to do all the complicated things that workstations and Arrangers do. If you look at the Kurzweil K2000 you probably are looking at the MIDI code max-ed out.

Thanks for the replies. After seeing the Bonners video, I was hoping to use the Behringer FCB1010 as a substitute for the EC5 - seems not to be such a good idea!

I am not waiting.
Have 2 Airturn Bt500s-6, Mount it on a Lexan plate with assignable switch and Expression pedal.
Keyboard set 1-4,
var 1-4,
ending 1-3,
break.
Assignable 1 for harmony on/off,
assignable 2 expression.
…..
The two bt500s-6 pairs in a group to Widibud pro by CME plugged into the top usb port. Wireless control.
Each bt500s-6 has 2 analog ports for expression or effects control pedals…optional…

I have been doing this since the Pa1000 purchase several years ago. Works same on pa5x and can be used on either units…

Sure, I can do all this on my FCB1010 but this doesn't solve the OP's problem (and mine!!!)
Example (one of several functions):- how do you assign VAR-UP?

The bigger problem was no harmony on/off on the assignable Still using my PA3x on gig. No ec5, using Blue-tooth pedals wirelessly. Set on floor, turn on and auto pairs to the Widimaster. Yes, many need var up/down. Maybe in a future upgrade? But enjoying the PA5x. Soon to be in the gigging field…

After a small adjustment, e.g. KORG NANO PAD via USB with its own number of pedals.
the possibility of connecting up to 16 pcs
