Convert Yamaha Styles to Korg

Post by SussexDave »

I have been following the excellent YouTube post by Qui Robinez but using Logic Pro instead of Cuba’s.
I have got to the point of exporting the set to midi with tracks rearranged and markers edited to the Korg format., however I’m struggling to get the export to retain the correct midi channel numbers. Each time I export, the file changes each track back to ‘All’ midi tracks.
Has anyone any ideas?

In Logics Export dialog to to export the SELECTED midi tracks turn ON the Export Selection as MIDI File switch - but turn OFF that MIDI file switch in case you want to export ALL midi tracks.

I think it is ok to get "ALL" midi tracks, because this format 0 does not have separate tracks like midi format 1, but it has the advantage that all keyboards and MIDI file players can read and play these files.

The correct MIDI channels should also be maintained with "all" tracks, with all the data is stored in one track.
kind regards

I followed Qui's excellent video on converting a Yamaha style to the Pa5x and i've gotten to the point of importing the file midi into the keyboard duirng the Style Edit, but the Import function will NOT import the file???

Its a Type 0 file with Markers set just as in Qui's video. What am I doing wrong?

This is because the import system only allows one track per assigned midi channel, so be sure that you don't have extra channels (like the sysex) but only the channel: 9-16 (one of each)

HI Qui, thank you so much for your assistance.

I checked my channels and I only have 6 and they run from channel 9-14. I also removed the Sysex track, but it still does not load.

Any other ideas what could be causing this file not to Import?

Is there a way I can send you the file to check out? I used Cubase Elements 13 to edit the file.

Thanks

maybe you didn't include the markers then?

I will sent you a private message with an address where you can sent the file to, then i will check it for you what you have missed in the tutorial.

I have had similar importing problems with some files. If the above problem is resolved, it would be helpful to see the resolution that Qui finds.

I have figured out why files will not load when you try to import a mid file into a style. When editing the MID file in Cubase or any any other DAW; you need to ensure all tracks and the markers for v1cv1 align to position 0000. It will not load if any track is misaligned.

I now have successfully converted 5 Genos styles.
