In the meantime, on the planet Ketron...
Ketron is really performing well; I am seriously considering leaving my beloved Pa4X to switch to Event. At least they demonstrate being alive and kicking, and their operating system is already at version 2.0.

I was/am, seriously thinking of that too,i still have some concerns though:
1)Watching already some users need or having problems with faders, buttons etc, that's not a good sign, though some friends who used or use Ketron products claim that they never had not even one issue .
2) Biggest problem for me is that for every new audio style i need to create, i calculated the recordings i need to make in order to be playable from any key ,and the result is 750minimum to 1350maximum.
That means it needs a lot of time even if i work fast.
So ,only solution is to always use the already made by ketron or create audio styles that are playable from 3 or 4 near keys only.
That could be easy solved if Event could use an algorithm that transpose audio realtime like Pa Series do, or something like build-in Elastik Pitch like software.
Then i would buy it indeed.
Only good thing is that i can tell all these things to a developer friend of mine who works for Ketron.
He is a user too,so he owns not only pa but genos and event es well .
He is always pointing Ketron what users need , and that's a good thing.
I believe we will see many more from Ketron in future because of that, and i believe they are at the right side of history, they just have to continue like that .

...and now they have released version 3.0.0 of their operating system, with a mountain of bug fixes and new features. It almost seems like the developers at Korg Italy have all moved to work on the new operating system for Ketron Event.

I don't think I'll be letting go of my Pa4X-76 for now, but I'm seriously considering adding a Ketron EVM as soon as it hits the market.

the Ketron event is missing lots of crucial features.
no EQ for the styles
no event edit
no way to connect to a DAW and hear anything you program via midi in
virtually non existent sampler
no physical fill buttons
no sample compression
no control changes to record directly on the keyboard
chord changes are not instant
the sounds are mediocre at best compared to Korg
sound editing features are missing
no way to delete duplicate midi events besides rerecord
basically from a style and sound designer perspective its a brick

Your knowledge of Ketron keyboards is impressive. Thank you for sharing it. May I ask if you've had hands-on experience with a Ketron or if your knowledge is based on user manuals and forums?Aripearlmusic wrote:the Ketron event is missing lots of crucial features.

I tested everything I said about it on the keyboard itself. The manuals and forums don't really say much. You would think that they would include a basic style editor with event edit by the 3rd OS but no it's still a bust.redfox wrote:Your knowledge of Ketron keyboards is impressive. So correction on what I said...
You can connect to a DAW
It uses midi format 0
It does not have any EQ in the styles
It does not support stereo multisamples via SF2 if they are not joined/interleaved
You will need a second midi controller if you want to play into the DAW because the Event will need to have local control turned on in order to demo and switch sounds while programming styles.
All standard control changes are supported but like I said there is no EQ in the styles so basically no mids control but you can use LPF and HPF
Stock FX presets are quite solid on the standards
The midi percussion loops are great but not sliced properly so they can be late
Some of the guitar loops are good but some are poorly mixed and not fixable

Aripearlmusic, ( and others)
First off, you are INcorrect at stating the Event does not have EQ for the styles. It is not the handiest one admittedly but you CAN eq all style elements.
Pete: I am somewhat disappointed you should rehash that entry to the Medelli comparison which has been exposed as a fraught in many ways a long time ago......
Now as to the current state of affairs regarding the ketron Event allow me two remarks only:
1
I have had the Event for over a year and it is quite a beast of an arranger. For folks who like to sit down and "play keyboard " it is not the best choice, ergo it is the worst choice. ( get a Genos or a PA5). For those performing on stage who want to have the feel of being accompanied by a real band there is no contest: get yourself an Event , with the PA4X or PA5x as runner up in this division... Here is a link to my home recordings over the last couple of years. There are five or six of them with the Event, many with the SD9 etc.

to give you an idea what's on the market ( software, styles, sounds, samples etc) here are two links ( youtube) to KEVs in Italy and SCM studios in Holland. KEVs offer many new styles availing themselves of new samples, new drums and new Real Chords. SCM studios specializes in ( extremely low priced) Real Chords and User Samples. (N.B. user sample memory in their ms3. format is limited to 800 Mb. But Kevs provide samples in a different format that go in another memory and is quite extensive).:

when in style edit lefthand bottom row there is EFX.
if you scroll thru EFX you get many settings including e.g.
Bright 1, 2, 3, Loud 1,2,3 etc.
It can be done seperately for the Midi acc. tracks, for the Real Chord track and for the Drum track. ( in Drums you go to edit and can choose different Bright levels as well).
It is no way near the convenient way in which it can be done on Korg but it can be done and as such be memorised. But I admit it is cumbersome and quite a chore. I wonder what folks here think of the demos etc. of the sites that I mentioned provided styles, sounds, realchords and samples for the Event...
