Soundsettings and Samples / Factory data (Reubens EP-Rhodes)
Hello,
a large number of settings on the Pa1000 do not come close to achieving the sound quality that the available high-quality factory samples enable.
Apparently often Korg did not use the extensive parameters of the sound editor, mixer and effects for the finished factory sounds (pcg files) or hardly used them to ensure consistently high sound quality.
A good example of this was the set with sixteen EP Rhode sounds created by "Reuben" in August 2019 with factory data, which unfortunately no longer is available from the links provided (http://www.korgforums.com/forum/phpBB2/ viewtopic.php?t=119314).
Please, if anyone could provide me with this set, I would be very grateful.
Unfortunately, Reuben no longer has this set, but instead since December 2022 has Rhodes pianos in his Piano package - the Rhodes also only use the factory data (http://www.korgforums.com/forum/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t =113029).
The reason I'm still looking for the sounds from August 2019 is that by analyzing the sounds created by Ruben, I can learn a lot about how you to create significantly higher quality sounds than the settings supplied by Korg using factory data alone.
If external samples from other manufacturers are primarily imported and saved completely unedited as finished sounds, there is nothing that can be learned from sound packages equipped in this way for sound editing.
Apart from that, such carelessly put together settings don't sound anywhere near as good as the high-quality packages from Reuben, who masterfully understands how to use the existing parameters as the technical requirements allow - and you can learn from that!
*
I think a copied or recorded sample imported into the pa1000 by no means automatically is a new or good sound - but as soon as the editing parameters offered are applied sensibly, even a relatively musty, lifeless sample - maybe also used from ROM - can be brought to life.

Many times I posted about Reubens pianos, they are my "go to" pianos. My set includes some great pianos including 5 Rhodes. The late poster, "Music with Harry" was the one who put me onto Reubens pianos. To me they are the best on all of my 3 Korgs.
There must be someone who has the set that you refer to, a bit earlier and maybe Pa4x ? Post this to 4x too, Pete often comes to the rescue. I will do some more looking. Reubens pianos are great, good luck.

**EDIT: See Post further down**
Hi to all still interested in the Rhodes set.
My Pa3x is packed away presently with some mechanical problems and I have been mostly just playing piano on my Yamaha P121.
I did do a lot of backups over the years and if you are interested enough you might (I say might because I haven't opened the set myself and as stated my Pa3x is presently not available) find a copy of the Rhodes set in a full backup I did in April 2020.
The zipped file is available here

Just make sure you do a full backup of your current setup before loading.

OK I think I found an old .SET folder that contains most of the Rhodes/EP's.
This folder is SOUND only so will not upset any of your settings. If you load it as is then it will put 31 EP's into your User 3 bank (the first 5 pages plus 1)
Hope this helps anyone experimenting with sound creation/editing.
A few of these EP's have Tremolo speed that can be controlled by the Tempo Wheel.
Others you can control Tremolo Depth and sometimes Distrortion by going into Menu, Mixer/Tuning, FX Send.

Nice one Reuben you are a star. Did backup and loaded .set to go with your other set. Thanks to the other posters who helped make this happen.
To others don`t forget Reubens other set, I use it across the keyboard to practice scales and arpeggios as well as in songbook entries.
Thanks Reuben.
