Does Anyone Use and/or Knows About Breathe Controller

Post by sridharar »

With Korg PA600?

That outputs MIDI into PA600.
I am getting interested in it as a Midi Controller for controlling parameters such as Pitch, Volume, Cut-Off, Tremolo etc.

Most of the items that search on the internet brings up something from the past that works with Yamaha (in some proprietary manner). Search here did not bring anything.

I am using LogiTech Extreme 3D Pro (my own custom python code running on Windows) as well as some iPad apps for sending MIDI messages to my Korg PA600.

Thought it would be so much powerful to control music through mouth (freeing up hands for other things).

May be there are Electronic Flutes and Electronic Melodica.

Thanks in advance.

You sound like you might be the type who can build something like this.

My arduino/korg controllers have all been footswitch type but have I have fun building and have had good results.

Thanks for your suggestion Jonk.

I think I might try it after giving up on other avenues.

Meanwhile I am seeing Electronic Midi Flute, Saxophones, Melodica etc. and they look like the path of lower resistance and promising.. if I can find one on a lower budget without connectivity issues.

If any one has already tried these avenues I would love to hear from them.

Breath Controller

Breath controllers do not work in a proprietary way, but have their own MIDI converter that sends standardized MIDI messages (CC1, CC2, CC7, Aftertouch, etc.).

How and why these control commands are used in the target device is up to the user.

This generally applies to MIDI messages and this means that the music - like with electronic flutes, melodicas and other wind instruments - of course can be controlled via the mouth.
kind regards
