Overwhelming, but the PA5x sounds amazing to me. My first arranger keyboard. I've been using a Roland Fantom X for the past 18 years and have done over 1200 sequences, so I have lots of work to do to convert.
I'm trying to improve the sounds of my MIDI files, and I understand Qui's editing. But I want to actually take a sound from the "Legacy" sounds, example 'Pedal Steele Guitar' and make it closer to my taste. I can't find that sound in the factory guitar presets....Only in the General Midi and Legacy categories when I'm in Song / Midi File mode. I want to take a Legacy sound, edit it, then save it in my User sounds for future MIDI sequences.
Any thoughts, suggestions would be much appreciated.
Watching the video tutorials from Korg have been helpful in understanding some of the work-flow of the PA5x. But the tutorials that Qui has put out have been super helpful.
Thank you,
AZkeys

if you want to do some basic ADSR and cutoff reso editing, then you can do this directly in the song mode by pressing:
- select the sound you want to edit (for instance the pedal steel in channel 5
- select channel 5 (or the channel you have loaded it into)
- press the menu button
- select Track controls tile on the screen
- select the sound edit sub tab on the screen
- now you can modify the basic settings of that selected sound
You can store the song in the songbook, the song edits are also automatically stored in song mode.
If you want to go way further and completely reprogram the sound in the interal synthesizer, then follow the procedures as explained in one of my tutorials (see the one below)

Ok, I'm understanding the editing part now.
But I can only get into edit any of the "UPPER 3, 2, and 1" buttons on the KEYBOARD section and in the mixer screen. When I go to the actual sound in the mixer of the MIDI file, I cannot edit that sound, or even hear it either. I must be in a wrong editing mode somewhere.....?

In other words, no matter what track I select, there is no sound coming from what I have chosen.
They only sound when the MIDI file is playing.
I can change volume, mute, and solo during playback, but not actually play the sound by touching the keys and hear it.
I was editing what I thought was to be that channel (5), but I was actually editing KEYBOARD UPPPER 3 sound.

YAAAAAAY!!!
Finally figured it out. I had to be in a different screen AND a different MENU mode to get to the 'Legacy' sounds and save them within the MIDI file.
I also found out not only how to record a new track, but also 'punch in' on a track to fix some old mistakes.
This is really turning out to be a great keyboard. And I'm barely digging in!
Thanks again Qui, your tutorials are extremely helpful.
Korg's on-line tutorials are helpful as well.
Thank you!
