External controller for Pa5x

I wanted to control the style fills / variations with an external controller.
I connected a Novation Launchpad directly to the Pa5x and it does not transmit the style control data to the keyboard. I used channel 8 as " Control" midi in. Then I configured mainstage to send midi data on channel 8 and connected the launch pad to the Mac and it did work. But there is a lot of random freezes of the keyboard when playing styles.
Is there any specific channel that we have to use as the control channel ? Has anyone tried this before ? Any ideas how to fix the freezing issues/?

I control all style-elements with a Behringer FCB 1010.
That works very well.

I was solwing this problem so:
Conect in sor example , CUBASE event edit start recording MIDI data AND BETWEN RECORDING PRES STYLE COMMAND.
SO YOU TAKE in record info about all,than chek midi filter on controler,if ned go on settings and repair wrong setings it ned to work.
I was experimented with more control mashine working all.Im realy wonder why superonic Pa5x in 21 century used tehnology 100 year before the snakes,it is no integrierted midi blue toth system or wifi-wireles,
-do not aranged all swich and fader with value display
-That can set individualy what info will be visable on songbok properties screen is enough big,
-no velocity setings on matrix
-no asignable controle ,i wana say,matrix can be to used as the controllers to.
-Sounds on matrix is only 20 maby 30 % velocity value compared all others sounds where can you even use this ?
Sign keyboard is not as normal tablet keyboard and lost the time by tiping,it is like in old
ltime in pa1 or i 30 time and here are ne more confortable.
-When you name or rename elements,if you want to clear only segment of word,it automaticly clear complete word.
-Cant not to set one click big caracter, on keyboard
-cant copy one track complete settings and paste on other track.
-EFFECT s Has not to save settings but you ned always on new doing this,lost a lot time.(30 year old GEM sk 760 has this function and newer frosen)
-LEFT HAND SO,LOWER HAS NOT DYNAMIC SETTINGS,AND HERE ATLEAST TWO TRACK AS GEM SK 760.
Ok will we se what will be after OS update tgis korg GNUS..get to surpise.
I m realy wonder why korg company not resuch the musician needs.
BUT SUPERSONIC PA5X IS PROFESIONAL ARRANGER.BUT INFRASTRUCTURE LIKE BY MEDELI,CASIO ,YAMAHA AND ROLAND TOY.
NOTHING PROGRESIVE !

I DONT KNOW WHY befor start created one new mashin not preparing complete concept,wery precise,complete infrastructure etc,than ing.s start with deweloping proces.
I know KORG wery whel but 20 year is all go Down not to the high.

It is only few shortcomings of atleast 50.

I did not started this thread to blame korg. I have encountered a possible midi issue. Why are you blaming korg for that ?

As you know I don't have a PA5x but I do have a Behringer FCB1010 which worked perfectly on my PA4x.

You are welcome to borrow it if you wish....

Thank you very much Pete. I was more looking for a touch pad type thing. I managed to get it working with an AKAI MPD218 which has very responsive touch pads compared to the korg nanopad.
