Keybed or software problem? Video included
Hi everyone
I own a KronosX 88 that was having problems where some notes wont produce sound ranging from all octaves (all in major thirds)
After researching, the issue could be that the keybed circuit board was having problems, so my technician carefully checked it and resolder and cleaned it. The problem went away but now we are facing with a different problem. Sometimes the sound instantly cuts, its barely audible, sometimes is not audible at all, changing the patch and coming back to it fixes the issue for a bit
Ill post a link with the problem.

We cleaned the rubbers of the keybed, the keybed circuitboard, new RAM, new SSD, new Ssd cable

Have you tried re-seating the plugs of the power cables? At the power unit mainly. Take out and back in? I had sounds cutting out, most likely due to that, because now it's fixed.
Kronos 2-88 & X73, Kurzweil MicroPiano, Spitfire Albion V Tundra, BBCO Core, Nylon Guitar Ilya Efimov, Xtant Audio Uilleann Pipes - in use
Testing Modartt Pianoteq..
Korg DS-8, Roland D-10, M1Rex, Wavestation, Korg SP-280, JV2080, Wavestate, Kronos LS - all RIP

Thanks, i will try that the next time my technician comes, he wants to check the main connector of the keybed.BlackForest wrote:Have you tried re-seating the plugs of the power cables? I used to have a Kronos 2 that was failing with auto transpose and some noises, fixed with a proper re connect of several circuit boards
Here is the first test I would do : unplug everything from your Kronos except of course the AC power plug and listen from the headphones front jack to see if this continues to happen.
Just a random thought here... You seem to be playing along with your computer triggering other sounds. If MIDI data is flowing to your Kronos, some unwanted data could be causing this, for example a wrongly assigned volume=0 message to the MIDI channel you are currently playing.
Also, another thing I see from your video is that you keep your master slider at minimum. It normally is OK, but for example if that slider has the slightest problem and tends to send data because it is too sensitive to vibrations, it would send a 0 setting in that low position which could cause your problem. Whenever possible, try to keep that slider at maximum position. If needed, do another test with that slider up to see if it could be the cause.

I have already tested it with just the AC power (with headphones) and the issue remains, also, i play mostly audio, (i seldom use MIDI) so no MIDI messages are being sentKK wrote:Here is the first test I would do : unplug everything from your Kronos except of course the AC power plug and listen from the headphones front jack to see if this continues to happen.

As a workaround you could switch your controllers to EXT so the poti doesn't affect anything on your internal sounds and save the programe.Le Fernandé wrote:Ok, Update:
Looks like the culprit is the Cutoff knob, looks like the vibrations turns down the cutoff to 0 (failing potentiometer?), thats why it just happens with some sounds, and pianos seems unnafected...
Know what I mean?

Can it be made global, so it works with all programs/combis?
