Hi Korg2024,Korg2024 wrote:Yes, it can be imported now. I was able to import this MIDI file. Thank you. Now can you explain to me how I can do the same with my MIDI files that I want to import?
couple of key notes to remember to make sure that Korg accepts the midi file:
a). Korg only needs channels 9-16. These channels can be on any track numbers. Other channels in the midi file should be deleted or renumbered as follows:
9-bass
10-drums
11-percussion (optional)
12 to 16-accomp
b). Style has to start from 1:01 (at least one track needs to start at 1:01)
c). All non-Korg markers should be removed.
d). Save as Midi Type = 0 (preferred)
Good luck.. and keep us posted.

hi Korg2024,Korg2024 wrote:Wow... And this is called an answer... Thank you very much! How can I do that? Can I do it in the Cubase program? I will try myself, if I fail, I will write here again.
as DM'ed to kransen, I am using the free version from BandLab - version 2024.07 (build 108, 64bit).
Go here to download the latest version. https://www.bandlab.com/products/cakewalk
Let me know if you need more assistance.

As I said in one of my earlier posts you can use Calkewalk from Bandlab; it is free. Otherwise you can also use the good 'ole XG Works from Yamaha which is also free. You can download it from the link https://www.xg-central.com/xgc-software.php Scroll to the Tools section and you'll see the Good 'ole XG Works.Korg2024 wrote:Wow... And this is called an answer... Hi , thank you. Didn’t know that XGWorks was still available. I’ve been using it for years to convert my psr styles to Korg. Find it easier to use than the more complex daws that have all the audio features, they just get in the way if all I need is midi.JagiChan wrote:As I said in one of my earlier posts you can use Calkewalk from Bandlab; it is free. I have been using the XG works since my PSR 620 days. It is an amazing program without a steep learning curve. The best is that it works on my latest laptop equipped with Windows 11.rikkisbears wrote:Hi , thank you. Didn’t know that XGWorks was still available. I think I’ve had my copy for over 20 years , when I bought my first Yamaha arranger psr9000 pro. I don’t actually record songs , so haven’t bothered learning all its functionsJagiChan wrote: I have been using the XG works since my PSR 620 days. I could be wrong, but I think the newer daws tend to focus on audio , more so than midi. Not something I currently need.
I tried using Real Band which comes with Band in a Box, it’s just more complicated to use. It started to focus more on audio than midi. So back to good old xg works
So the download is useable with win 11?.
The way I got round it with my old copy when it stopped working with newer versions of windows was to copy the xg program folder from my old xp computer onto a usb stick and the run the program directly from the usb stick. Gave up trying to do a proper install. Had copies backed up all over the place, just in case.
Anyway, great to hear it’s available for download
best wishes

Hello everyone. I have a problem again. In fact, the problem is not completely solved. First, I couldn't load the MIDI file into the recording mode-editing style at all. Then I did as you told me. However... When I assign MARKERS in the keyboard and thus save a MIDI file, AGAIN I cannot convert that MIDI file into styles. After assigning a marker in the instrument itself, to the keyboard, I cannot convert that MIDI file in style editing, recording mode. What is the problem ? What should I do ?!
There is a bug with the MIDI import function. I tried various methods and none were successful on the latest OS update. I reverted OS 1.2.x and the same MIDI file was successfully imported. So conclusion is that there is a bug in the MIDI file import. What can you do? Nothing, wait for the next update with bug fix from Korg.Korg2024 wrote:Hello everyone. I have a problem again. Hi, what do you mean by “assign markers in the keyboard “Korg2024 wrote:First, I couldn't load the MIDI file into the recording mode-editing style at all. Then I did as you told me. However... If you’re trying to load a .mid file to create a style, markers are added to a .mid file in your daw ( sequencer) not in the keyboard..
Try it with one of the PA5x styles. Export it as a .mid into a pc daw, you can then see basically how a .mid file should be set out.
Channel 9 Bass
Channe10 Drums
Channel11 Percussion
Channel 12 to 16 for all the other instruments.
Also realise a normal song (midi file ) is not easily turned into a style. You can’t have chord changes in a “variation “you have to use sections of the song that doesn’t have a chord change in it.
Personally instead of going to all the trouble of turning a song into a style, I’d do what Qui shows in this video.
Worth checking out if you haven’t already seen it, even if it’s not what you want to do.
A specific song based style is limited, it takes time to create a style from them, far easier to just fix up and play a midi file as Qui demonstrates.
