You Google what you want to do?
I typed in “Korg Pa5X Style Creation” & forum member Qui Robinez’s tutorial was the first listed.

Not create a style ... record a style nothing about in googl
hi,
i think that the Korg Pa5x can only record the Style you play on mp3
because nobody on the Internet talks about recording the Style you play as
Midisong...
so if its like this i am going to send it back...
Thanks

Re: recording a Style
Well, it doesn't matter if it's not there or not activated. The end-user does not have the option to record styles as they used to with previous models, at least not directly from the Pa5X.Felix1 wrote:I had a discussion Today with Korg.

But there is a work-around for that. While it's not perfect, it works and also has some benefits compared to the Quick Record function from the previous models.
By using a DAW (I use Studio One) and optional a MIDI controller/keyboard with programmable buttons (recommended, since it makes a few things much easier), you can record the variations, chords and live-play the KbtSet (incl. changing the KbtSet) (if keyboard splitting is possible on the MIDI keyboard) into your DAW and send them directly to your Pa5X.
See Page 580 from the Pa5X 1.2.0 User Manual.
I tried this with a MIDI keyboard and also made a Studio One template with all variations for easy copy paste, so I can control the Pa5X even without any external controller.
There are a few things you always have to keep in mind. For example when you send the MIDI clock from your DAW to your Pa5X it automatically starts the style, if in your Pa5X "CLOCK SOURCE" is set to "External USB" or "External Midi" (which you should!). You can prevent this by starting in beween measures in your DAW and put a Program Change 104 exactly where the next measure starts and another Program Change 104 where you want the style to start, preferably when a measure starts, so the measures are in sync and don't behave strange when changing variations or pressing fill-ins.
Also keep in mind, that when sending the MIDI clock from your DAW to your Pa5X, BPM related effects can sometimes distort, since the BPM in the Pa5X is adjusted continuously by approx. +/- 2. If you work with a DAW anyways I recommend recording every track separately without any effects, or at least deactivate effects like delay and reverb.
You can also e.g. split the style variations, start/stop and chords for a better overview.
Also shame on KORG for the low MIDI resolution of only 384 in the Pa5X.

Hi, I suppose it depends on why you need your recording as midi file rather than an audio file.
In my case I use styles as backing track for piano accompaniment .
Since quick record is not available yet, I use the chord sequencer.
I record my sequence in chord sequencer, (haven’t tried it yet but now apparently I can also edit the sequence), then I play back sequence and record as mp3.
Doing it this way , there’s no mistakes, as they’ve been fixed in the sequence.
