Boot up time

Post by mabcomp »

I cant believe the ridiculous time it takes the PA5X to complete the Bootup. Surely they could have used later technology and faster drives, its downright embarrassing and very annoying.

Welcome to Korg. It takes time to boot linux. My Oasys took 3x's this to boot. The Pa4x takes twice what a Pa5x. I think it's great.

Hi,
Just booted up my Korg Nautilus 88 and it took exactly 2 minutes and 35 seconds. I then booted up my PA5X and it took exactly 40 seconds.

mSD and any external media even KORG DISK emulating space , do not participate in any way in boot or loading any samples ,
all are written internally in motherboard fast Nand memory and only preloading samples (samples attack portions) are written to real Ram.

A Pa5X loaded with custom full Ram of 4 GB (8Gb compressed) after OS v1.3 needs less than a minute to be ready to play !

Make a factory restore and retry to see the actual booting time !
Such a booting time declares corrupted custom resources from older PaSeries models that are not supported !

This was actually aimed at Anthony, sorry. I am sure you know the time of boot up to the second of your PA5x.

Could you not turn it on 5 minutes before you're going to play? Problem solved?

Mine takes 48 seconds, and I have ALL the previous PA models stored on it, along with a 64Gb SD card and a USB flash drive.

Usually when I'm going to play, I can be getting music ready or headphones on, so it's no big deal.

But 4 minutes + does sound excessive.

PA5X boot up time measured.

Post by JagiChan »

Pls see my video here to check out the boot up time. I don't have any fancy sets or styles, all factory resources and styles. No fancy measuring equipment. Mobile camera, stopwatch and screen recorder. Hope this helps clear the air. Cheers.
