Hi John
It depends of your custom resources and their health condition !
- Pa5X OS v1.31 with factory resources has less than 40 seconds boot time
- My commercial Pa5X setup with full 8 Gb Ram of custom resources needs less than 1 minute.

Make a factory restore and check OS booting time , if over 1 minute then you have hardware issue.
In this case reload latest OS v1.31 and re-check

Hope this helps

Boot up time on my PA5X with only factory resources. I don't have any fancy sets or sounds, etc.
Check the video of the boot up time here ==> https://youtu.be/BDEYvojZ0Zc

How long does it take you to make a full backup of your set? It takes me a really long time... Over 40 minutes. I guess a lot depends on how many samples and bits I have. But I think this is plenty of time for the newest arranger. Do you also need that much time or ?

It depends of storage media speed , using upper fast mSD port with a fast mSD card , full 4GB of custom samples
with all resources will need up to 10 minutes to save resources and 50 % of that time for loading resources back.

Nothing to do with mSD capacity , only a matter of mSD speed (like 150Mbps write speed) and
the use of Pa5X upper mSD slot that is faster !
And this concerns only of saving and loading resources , mSD do not participate in OS loading.

Long booting time has to do only with custom resources and maximum loading time is 1 minute.
I wrote you to make a factory restore and confirm that booting time is max 40 seconds !

Hope this helps

Yes! I just tested my Pa5X and confirmed. Apparently, inserting a MicroSD card (into the top faster slot) adds significant time to OS load time...

I have a MicroSD 512GB SanDisk Extreme Pro (read speed of 200 MB/s).

Boot times were as follows:
  • 01:40 - WITH the MicroSD card inserted and with about 2GB in user internal resources
  • 00:51 - WITHOUT the MicroSD card but with about 2GB in user internal resources
  • 00:37 - Factory Restore WITHOUT MicroSD card
So interesting...!

FYI once again , mSD or USB plugged in Pa5X do not participate in OS & samples resources loading.

Any mSD or USB connected in Pa5X are just for files storage , nothing is loaded or written in them while booting.
If booting time is delayed because of a storage disk connected is probably because this media storage disk has
not been formatted in Pa5X or because is not compatible with disk bus or architecture of file system.

I always have connected while booting Pa5X , all WavesArt sound libraries as KST sets and other resources that
I'm working with , with the following drives plugged in :
1) Kingston Canvas React Plus V60 SDXC 256GB Class 10 U3 V60 UHS-II (world's faster mSD) in fast upper slot.
2) Kingston DataTraveler Max 512GB USB (world's faster USB3) in front USB port.
- Loading only factory resources (no samples) booting time under OS v.1.31 with or without mSD & USB plugged in
is always less than 40 seconds.
- Loading WavesArt Ethnic flagship of 8GB samples , booting time under OS v.1.31 with or without mSD & USB plugged in
is always 62 seconds.

Hope this helps

Thanks for confirming. I have a localized SD card (32 GB provided by Korg) in the bottom SD card slot. On the upper slot I have a 16GB SanDisk mSD Class 10 card. The front USB has a SanDisk 32 GB USB stick. I have loaded some PA resources from the earlier keyboards (the KST was provided here on this forum, don't remember who provided it, but it has all the sounds/styles from the previous PA series nicely sorted in banks). The keyboard takes 42 seconds to bootup from poweron on OS 1.3.1.
