KORNOS MIDI USB problem

Post by afr »

Hi to everybody,

I have a problem when I try to connect my Kronos to the PC with a USB cable

The PC is running Win 11

Kronos is updated to the latest version 3.1.4

I also installed the newer driver1.15.56e

In windows device manager I can see that the driver is installed correctly

When I go in cubase and I search KRONOS in the midi device list, it does not appear

Any idea about the problem?

Thanks in advance

@afr, did you solve your problem? Is it just in Cubase? Did you try a simple MIDI program like MIDI-OX to see if the Kronos USB MIDI port is available?

The document says "under examination" for Windows 11 23H2, which means there may be problems.

I'm sticking with Windows 10 for as long as possible, but eventually it will become insecure and unsupported, like running Windows XP today.

Just test it, unfortunately I'm running Windows 11 23H2, so I have to wait for a newer driver version

I was struggling with this issue a few days back. Turns out if you have Kronos anything but Channels 1-9(In the Kord midi driver side), the kronos won't be showed in any daws etc. Had to remove the other midi equipment and remove the kronos drivers with "Korg Midi Driver Uninstall Utility"(it comes with korg midi driver, just use win startmenu search) After that the Kronos is now in channels 6 and 7. What a pain in the ass was this to solve :?

Screenshot about the solution, first the Korg channels were in channels 12,13, after removed the other equiment and installed the kronos first, then connected the other midi devices the thing worked. ==> https://ibb.co/mhkk9yb [/url]

Thank you for the salution, which fixed my problem!

I couldnt get my head around why the midi connection to my newly purchased Kronos wouldnt work.
I tried everything and after finding your post i noticed that it was the exact same problem.
My Kronos was in channel 11-12, after removing other devices below and reinstalling (now in 5 and 7) everything worked as it should!

Thanks again!

I've found the Korg USB MIDI driver so unreliable that I've started using the MIDI port on my Focusrite interface instead. I get way fewer MIDI errors and it's 100% reliable. Only time I ever use that interface is when I have to update the sub-firmware or something like that. I also found that just to pick up the Kronos I would have to unplug and replug the Kronos after Windows loaded every time. I don't have that problem with a dedicated interface. For less money than a Scarlett interface I'd recommend getting a MIDIsport USB interface or something better if you're able to. I've used those in the past also, they work fantastic.
