Will this work for the PA600?
If not is there any way to get it to work?

Thanks

(If you have limited Ram available there is a Mini Version at just under 40mb (39.8mb) - see bottom of this first post).
To me the weak point of the 3x has always been the piano sounds which are quite muddy in the mid and low range areas. All the other sounds are excellent. This inspired me to find a good sampled piano loadable to the Pa3x and I found this in the free creative commons piano called the Salamander Grand made by Alexander Holm. All I had to do was to reduce this over 1gb 16 velocity layer piano to a version compatible with the Korg. I have ended up with a 6-velocity layer piano that also uses the resonance, pedal and key-off effects of the Korg, plus some additional sympathetic resonance effects.
There are 24 sounds in this set (15 versions of this piano using the new C5 Grand samples with various brightness levels and other effects, plus 9 new EPs that use factory sounds) that will load to the first 24 slots of User 1 Sounds.
You can download the latest version from here:(Full 116 mb version)
This first one loads to User 1 Sounds:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/103mo33 ... sp=sharing
If you prefer to load to User 2 Sounds then use the following:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1bKY3mC ... sp=sharing

How to Install:
(First backup your current set by performing a Save, All, tick everything.
You might also want to do a Full Resource Backup.)
Download the file. Unzip the downloaded file to reveal the folder that is in Korg .set format (Yamaha-C5-JNv5.4.Set). Copy this folder to a USB flash drive. Insert the USB flash drive into your Pa3x and press the Media button.
Change the bottom left menu to USB drive and make sure the Load tab at the bottom is selected. Navigate to the Yamaha-C5-JNv5.4 folder and select Load. This will put the 24 sounds on the first 3 pages of User 1 sounds (or User 2 if you use the second file).
(If you want them in a different position when you load my set rather than just using Load, Yes, do this instead:
Load, Open, Sounds, Open, User 1, Open, Select First Sound and Load you will be given a choice where to put it (say User 3 or User 1 Page 4 for instance). The first one will take a minute to load because PCM samples will also load, the rest will be very quick but you can still choose where to put them.)

This piano emulates the sound of the famous Steinway used by Elton John on some of his legendary albums.

(For Mini Version (39.8 mb compressed samples) of 8 pianos use this link: Version3 released July 28, 2019 - Much improved dynamic response
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1JXPGfO ... sp=sharing
This version uses 2 real sampled layers plus 2 more virtual layers and sounds surprisingly good with a smooth response over the entire velocity range! (Compared to 6 sampled layers in the big version).

I hope you enjoy these pianos.
John
Is there any chance that these would work with Pa600??
Cheers!!

I've just loaded these samples into my new Pa5X (88 keys) and they are fantastic - thanks very much.

I'm curious. How did you set up the second set to load by default into User 2 instead of User 1?

Cheers

When saving a set you have the option to choose which User locations you want. So I simply did this twice - once to User 1 and once to User 2.
Its nice to hear they work well on the new Pa5x. Did you have to do anything special to adapt them for use to the 5x or did they just load without modification?

The piano is 6 velocity layers. It also has some velocity controlled cut-off filtering to give some tonal variation within those layers.
I'm not sure how easy it would be to load .set format to another keyboard. It might be easier to use an .sf2 version that can be downloaded from my site

Thanks for the info. I'm new to Korg and I must say Korg data management is not particularly intuitive. Hopefully, I'll get there soon.

The samples loaded without a hitch. I particularly like the Yamaha C5 Grand.

I've also just seen the link to your soundfonts site which I'll be having a look at shortly.

Cheers

I'm also a PA5x 88 user and for me I needed to import and then they are playable.

organtx, can you also create a SET file for your Yamaha C6 file?

Well the C6 sample came with the other samples in a SET file which I then converted to a KST file using the Import function on the Pa5X. Then I loaded them using the Load function.

Does it work with Korg pa2x? :(
2022 = Korg PA5x
2015 = Korg Pa4x 76
2007 = Korg Pa800
2004 = Korg Pa1x
2000 = Roland Va-7
1998 = Roland E-86
1996 = Yamaha ?!

It uses compressed samples so I'm afraid it cannot be read by Pa2x.

A small update to this set has been made (April 28, 2025) which improves the sound of the decay of the large grands (Yamaha-C5-v6).
The download link has been updated in the first post above.
Enjoy
