Style from PA1X readable from PA1000?

Post by raimcomputi »

I'd like to play the song "Islands in the Stream" by Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton. I'm looking for a style for the song. I found one at an online shop in Germany where I could buy one. However, it says that this style was created for the PA1X. Do you think a PA1X style can be played on the PA1000, apart from the fact that I have to adjust the corresponding sounds?

I have one more question: I received a free style from the Tyros 5 for this song. Unfortunately, I don't have the option to convert the style to Korg format. Is there anyone in the forum who could do this for me?

And thirdly: Does anyone perhaps have a suitable style for the Korg keyboard that they could provide me with for a fee?

Thanks for any answers or suggestions.

As described in manual loading from data of most Pa-Series instruments can be done as if they were Pa1000 data.
This also applies to data from the Pa1x, however a few exceptions are described to be considered.

When you fear a system crash due to loading incompatible Pa1x data, I recommend to choose and select the Pa1x-style as Direct folder.

If you select a folder from a different Pa-Series instrument, you are asked if you want to convert the data to a format that Pa1000 can read. If you
confirm, you are prompted to choose a name and position for the new SET folder. This ensures that no incompatible data is loaded into memory.

That can be done - but there is no reliable software to automatically convert Tyros styles. Yamaha styles can, however, be renamed to the ".mid" format. This doesn't convert the file, but rather allows the renamed style to be loaded into sequencer software (Cubase, CakewaIk, etc.).

Now its elements can be restructured and edited using its MIDI sequences according to the Korg PA1000 style format - and any Yamaha-specific data should be removed. Although this isn't automatic and requires considerable manual effort.

Afterward, exporting as a Korg style is necessary, as well as editing style parameters—such as setting "No transpose" for Intro2/Ending2 etc.
kind regards

Thank you for the very insightful answer, as always.

I've already tried renaming the Yamaha style into a MIDI file and then editing it. But it's really time-consuming, and the result is still unsatisfactory.

I've since purchased a suitable style for the PA 1000. However, the style is written for the PA4X, so I had to make a few adjustments for the PA1000 as well. But it wasn't a big effort.

So my problem is solved for now.
