It does not affect the functionality, only cosmetics of the keyboard. But it shows ugly, some of them lightning well and some with these ugly black cracks.
I have bought this keyboard 2 years ago, and I've discovered these black shaddows early four-five months ago, and I've started wondering if I did something wrong. But now, seeing this topic, I've found that I'm not the only one with these issue.
Most than that, two of my fill-in buttons has broken theirself last month without doing anything. I just grabing my keyboard from the case and when I put it on the stand I've saw that those two buttons are like in pressing-mode, and moving freely.
And I'm telling myself this is the worst keyboard arranger from Korg I've ever had, with these problems. It's a dissaster in terms of materials used, a lot of issues with this keyboard - hardware and software ones.

IMHO, hardware issues happened too fast.

Vali

It can affect the functionality of the keyboard because the buttons are misshapen and not as secure as they should be and therefore prone to breaking quicker

Even with very less hours of power ON time (less than 50 hrs) my keyboard has this issue too.
Helpless because mine is out of warranty (2years +). I bought it but couldn't use it for my use case. So stored because of incomplete software and used my Pa3X until OS 1.3.1. Now when i started using it i noticed those on many buttons.
Those blacks are really annoying especially in the white lit pads button.

As I explained before it's a quality control and design flaw and not related to the power or the LED brightness whatsoever

Thanks for your excellent explanation. When I sent it into Korg warranty repair, they just replaced all the buttons. After a couple months I see a couple of them flawed. I think I will buy those buttons and take a look at them closely. Take your suggestion on repair.

Aripearlmusic wrote: Fri Apr 11, 2025 1:12 am The exact cause is simple. The button is constructed from 2 pieces. The clear part that is a window with a thick tab going through the center of the button is the cause of the black dots which are shadows created by the LED not shining through it evenly. The buttons themselves were printed with a 3D printer and the windows were as well. Some of the buttons were not sanded down properly and the same applies to the center tab. The second cause is the board underneath which was not fully secured causing the buttons to shift. The shifting caused the uneven distribution of the LED light. The unshaved buttons explain why the black dots have been seen even right out of the box on some. The shifting of the buttons explains how the dots seem to just appear out of the thin air. The repair does not require new buttons but filing down the existing ones. You're welcome
If this is true of what you say then why do the black lines reappear after the buttons are replaced?

The replacement buttons are the same as the original buttons and still have the same design flaw. The center peg part of the window needs to be shaved down and the board underneath the buttons needs to be secured better. The felt like paper around the buttons is also not doing you any favors and could be contributing to the issue.

Finally after a long wait my LED issue and faulty exit button will be fixed. After that, it will be a good time to think about purchasing the keyboard.

Perhaps you meant to say ".. to think about selling the keyboard" ?
After you repair it, you will buy it? It's annoying 😁
