Despite its weight, the triton by itself is pretty versitile for live.

I usualy use as many internal sounds as i can, and sample any other synths i dont feel like carting around.
If you do your combi splits right, you can do 3-4 parts on one keyboard easily.
You could probably do more splits than that, but at what point does it give you too small an area per sound.

The HDR tracks are also really handy for rehearsing by yourself cause you can put pre-recorded backing tracks on track 1 and vocals on track 2 in seq mode and then just jam to it. (thats what i do when i'm getting ready for a show)

Hi!

At the moment I'm just using my beloved Trinity!!!
And if Lorenzo will upgrade to the Extreme maybe that his ProX will be mine, but we're trading

I would like to have a Triton Extreme 76 and a Kurzweil K2661, this would be a great setup!!

I have a kurzweil stage piano. They have really nice weighted action.

I know wendy carlos is a HUGE fan of the k2600. They are supposed to have a wonderful feel to the keys.

You should check the used market cause i know theres alot of them floating around.

I'd also like a closer look at the Poly Evolver keyboard...

Playing live includes just two sets of keys.....Triton LE-88 and Korg C-3 Combo Organ....seems to cover all the bases for what our band does.

I play with my Triton Pro and Hammond/Suzuki XB-1 keyboard/organ.

The Triton is hooked up via midi to some Roland SP sampler/drumpad thingy (poor man's MPC :? )owned by the drummer (can't remember the name  )

This is how we play live with sequencer/clicktrack.
  • The songs are basicly empty 128+ bars sequences.
Metronome setup = Rec & Play, via Bus output. 1
There's a headphone amp on output 1, that splits the clicktrack, so both the drummer and me have a clicktrack :-)
All sequences are 1,2 or 4 bars loops in RPPR.
The drummer or myself trigger the loops via midi (using the Roland drum pads) or keyboard.
We use this setup to play dance / rap songs like Insomnia, God is a DJ, Jump Around (House of Pain), Insane in the membrane.

We also play some fully sequenced songs. (Engel by Rammstein, for example)

BTW, i'm still looking for a good lead patch for God is a DJ

Interesting thread; I have been wondering myself how musicians who use couple of VA's and a controller keyboard manage to pull their rig on stage. It must take ages to connect everything and make it work...

So the way out is to play back your arrangements from a sampler right? I thought people would use their onboard sequencers or something

On the other hand its probably different if you play in the band because then you have less instruments to cover.

For electronica artists life is probably a little harder in this respect. Take a look at this photo...

...but I guess Klaus Schulze can afford a team of people to carry this things lol...
