Hal2001 wrote:Not only is the new Kronos the center piece of my modest home studio, it's the only keyboard I own now. I play and record all my music live, in real time, and use my mac to make music sheet notation of my new compositions. Short term goal: really get to know my K. Long term goal: learn the world of DAW. I sold my Fantom X8 to switch to the Kronos. I loved that keyboard and miss the 4 amazing SRX expansion boards I had on it because I had a lot of favorite patches. I have also played entry level Yamahas such as the MM6 and YPG in the past. Even they have some very sweet spots. This is my first Korg product. I am very impressed by this unusually capable keyboard. I'm lovin' the new (for me) Korg sounds and really appreciate the German Piano program. I just set up my equipment today so I haven't yet tucked all the cables completely away. I'm expecting to make a few adjustments so I'll clean them up later. Now, it's back to more practice and composing.

Gotta say - I love the room, but I also LOVE the landscaping.

My desk is a custom desk that a friend made for me specifically for the Kronos 88. The lower shelf is a slide shelf that allows the Kronos to slide in when I'm using the computer more, or out when I need the Kronos. The monitors are BlueSky 5's with a BlueSky sub.
Thanks!
Chris

Beautiful custom job there. Efficient, tidy and aesthetic.

I do feel like a lucky dog. And, usually my dog is outside looking back at me and listening to me through the window. It's always good to have an audience to test new things on. He loves the ac and ep pianos, pads and orchestral sounds.

I hope this isn't too far off topic, and I really like that desk too, but isn't the sound from your monitors completely passing you by while you're working?

Speaker placement

You're absolutely right. I normally have them tilted inward at 45 degrees and then they sound excellent. Speaker placement and orientation does make a huge difference. Interestingly, I know Behringer gets a bad rap but they have served me very well for the last three years of being almost constantly on, every day. For the price, IMO they're a great value.

That's the first thing I thought when I saw the picture - why doesn't he tilt them inward 45 degrees! :)

What a statement

Only a few weeks ago,he was telling us all about his 960,000 Input SSL console..

Welcome back Sina, guess you've been busy with all that studio building work that's being done at your 18 bedroom mansion,so isn't it nearly finished yet,we're all dying to see your pics of the "Aladdins Cave" studio everyone's sitting with anticipation, would be totally relevant to this thread given you probably own 2 or 3 Kronos by now as well..

If only you had as many Instruments as Excuses :?

It was mainly the "360 degree range of stereo sound with pure accuracy" that had me cracking up, although the Behringer-love in itself is worth some too, I agree :)

Just played my second show with my K61! It sounded incredible of course!

Before (even if..) it's asked..

- yes im fat
- Rack
. Motu 828 MK3 firewire
. Patch bay one half is normal one half is serial
. Furman power Cond. with lights
. Di box mounted on a half rack
. UPS
- We (metal mongers) play tilted because it looks cool.. and cause it puts your hand in a more natural position like when you're sitting (flush) rather then standing with your keyboard normal having your hands almost at 90 degrees. (i'm avoiding arthritis!) also note that the stand i am using is a double tier. the second tier holds up the back of the kronos. but i had to mod is because it would not hodl it too well. notice i welded two bigger lips on it!

The tilted position looks cool and unusual.

Currently I'm using two keyboards (not a Kronos yet), which are completely flat and almost directly above eachother. I cannot see the lower display but that's not a problem since I use it as a MIDI keyboard only.

Hey don't be ashamed,Good to put a face to the Nick...

Will have to try that position on the Quiklok stands,I do find the angled approach in the correct way,is a little uncomfortable on a two tier stand especially on repetitive parts,I prefer to use the Ultimate stands as they keep the tiers/Synths horizontal,

so if that position makes it more comfortable to play will give it a go!
