I owned a Z/Moss in my studio at 2000's and I can say that the sax I had developed earlier for DX-7/DX-5 was most realistic in basic sound timbre ,
but both still fake compared even to sampled Kronos tenor sax of factory EXs 3.
Moss Modeling can help only to simulate pitch note passages of easy waveforms like strings/clarinet where notes passages are hard to be captured
by simple sampling and pro sampling can't ever be beaten by any workstation modeling engine , this is my field so I know in advance how any
of above techniques can be archieved.
Kronos HD1 is 15 years behind compared to Kontakt scripting or any sophisticated VST sampler interface like T-Sax where real sample modeling of
saxophones can be developed !

Busch once created a breath controller brass/wind soundset, but also with a keyboard version:

http://thekronosblog.blogspot.it/2011/1 ... grams.html
In there, I especially like
Stan Getz Ballad Tenor : Program U-G028
S Sop Sax :Kb : Program U-G025
As for nice 'growly' Tenor Saxes playing with the EXs3 saxes indeed gives some nice results, in my opinion. Other libraries I have tried fall short. I am still in doubt to consider the VST samplemodelling Saxophones library, but that's also because I have an Akai USB EWI breath controller.

I can appreciate instrument substitution for some songs; For Hall and Oats I cant go for that, I use a Synth solo instead of that signature Sax solo and riffs at the end of the song.
However, for songs like "Smooth Operator", replacing that Sax is just not going to cut it. I need that sultry Tenor or Baritone Sax sound.
Has anyone evaluated the WaveArt Brass sound samples?
Kind or pricey at $265 plus are they available in the Korg Sound Library store?

Jem Garfield, from Mediacoustics (MRedZac here on the forum), uploaded two free saxo banks : http://www.kronoscopie.fr/mediacoustics.html.
Unfortunately, it's on Mega. Impossible to download in Firefox, nor in Internet Explorer.
But, perhaps someone of you will succeed.

Nope , WavesArt provides an independent distribution without demo versions !kbrkr wrote:are they available in the Korg Sound Library store?
Concerning evaluation , already D-Block wrote one before , though simple real time dry demos can show the obvious !
