Hi Pete,

I think this OS3.0 manual for the Pa1x was written in respect of OS1.0 on the Pa800, prior to Guitar Mode styles being introduced on the Pa800 in OS1.5. How can guitar mode tracks be played on the Pa1x? Not possible at all. Sorry mate!

Maybe PA800 sounds can be loaded on the Pa1x, not styles!!

Hi Mike, Pete etc,

The Pa1x bonus collection styles were prepared by Korg on an external sequencer, then imported to the Pa1x and then saved in "Pa1x" style format. It is not in "Pa800" style format so yes it does work.

Try loading and playing any of the following Pa800 format styles on your Pa1x, ... they don't work .. guitar mode tracks play on the Pa1x as gibberish!!

Like I said in my reply to Pete, the OS3.0 and 3.1 manuals for the Pa1x were written in 2007 before "Guitar Mode" was added to the Pa800 which I think happened in the OS1.5 release for the Pa800 which was about Jan 2008. At that date the Pa800 style file format was changed to allow "guitar mode" style tracks. At that date the Pa800 .STY files became incompatible with the Pa1x.

Also in November 2008 the .PCG sound file format for Pa800 files was changed to accommodate the new DNC facilities. So following this date you can not import Pa800 format .PCG files into the Pa1x either.

All the statements in the Pa1x OS3.x documentation about Pa800 file format compatibility are now incompatible with the present situation as well !

I am sure you are right Rob. The PA800 styles I had, loaded and used would have been pre "Guitar Mode" - hmmmm all very confusing for everyone eh?

but i think that can only been done if u have older o.s. on pa800 than 1.6

not with 2.0 or 2.1

Yes, Pa800 with OS older than 1.6 can export Styles which can be imported to the Pa1x if the Pa1x is running version 3 OS.

The "incompatibility" in style formats happened after "Guitar Mode" was added to the Pa800 style format.

Hi there,
Where can I get pa800 preloaded styles from older o.s. version? Older than 1.6, so I can load the styles to my pa1x. I am interested in whole set, not just some styles. Please help.

Only styles from early versions of pa800 are compatible with pa1x. Newer versions are not. Same as pa2x. It is logical.
When I read information about upgrading to OS 3.01, there was information from KORG, that I will be able to load pa800 from early versions of pa800 OS, but there is no info where I can get those styles. Unfair.

Please help. I actually bought my pa1X hoping to be able to use the whole bunch of pa800 styles from the first versions.

It´s possible to convert PA800/PA2X styles to PA1X format with Style Works XT (for Korg) from EMC-musicsoftware.

Good question Jim - I really don't know - it is all too late for me as I am only PA2Xing nowadays.

Actually just found OS1.1 and matching resources for PA2XPro

By reinstalling these and saving the styles may work - can anyone confirm that this version was acceptable on the PA1X v3?

I am not sure, but if you or someone else, be so kind and do that to save the styles, I would try to load the styles to my PA1X...

Of cause, it would be much better to try the same with PA800's old OS...
I think the chances with PA2x are much lower than with PA800..

Do you think it is possible to contact Korg and ask them for the PA800 old OS styles? (Taking into account they promoted them on the PA1X v3...)
