PA800.SET CONVERT TO PA1X.SET

Post by rezerva »

Is this possible!?

I have a PA800.SET that i want to load on to my PA1X , but when you try to load it says that is a wrong file, it gives some error, and doesn’t let you finish the process.

Does anyone know any method of converting SET’s or SAMPLES originally made on PA800 to work on PA1X!?

Any suggestion is welcome.

Regards,
Kleo

The Pa800 file format is not compatible on the Pa1x, nor can Pa1x format files be produced from a Pa800 or a Pa2x. Nor can Styleworks or any other software currently available do it for you. The Pa800 file format is a closed format that Korg have not published.

reply -Pa1x problem

Post by shlomobutch »

I spoke to Korg representative. They say that the Pa1x pro does not have the same sound engine as the 800 and 2x pro, therefore making such a manuever impossible.
However, I wanted to know if us guys can request and pressure Korg to create and provide better operating system or compatability of other sounds as they arent the best. The 3.01 operating system leaves much to be desired....

What exactly are you wanting it to do? It currently does a whole lot more than its formal specifications.
It is impossible to make it "forwards compatible" - but that applies to most technology.

You can use Triton sounds, i-series styles, PA styles, samples etc.. etc.. there is also a converted SET of PA800 styles for the PA1.

If you truly believe that "..3.01 operating system leaves much to be desired..." then maybe you have the wrong keyboard for your needs :?

We are here to help, so please ask any questions and maybe we can make you feel more comfortable with your PA1.

Cheers

...you've lost me with that question - what rule?... :?

I said that the PA1Xpro is not forward compatible - never will be - have I misunderstood?
(You cannot load PA2Xpro/PA800 files on the PA1Xpro/PA1X - however some "converted styles" from the PA2Xpro have been made available for PA1XPro - how were they converted? I haven't a clue - but they work, although there are some differences due to the comparative limitations of the PA1X(Pro) - I used them - they are great!!)

Cheers

Thats what I was asking, if you could just take some of the new styles right from the 2x to the 1x but It looks like the answer is no. unless they were converted.

I know that it's possible to get some sounds from the triton, some that is downloadable from the korgpa website, -though it definitely does not sound like "triton sounds" probably because they are being interpeted by the os of the Pa1x pro!
Hey,It sure is possible to transfer some styles from the 2x to the 1x. They may not sound as good.

I'm curious about how you guys are achieving what I believed until now to be impossible - how do you convert Pa2x (Pa800) format styles so they can be loaded onto the Pa1x?

Hi Jim

SORRY

Of course you are right!! I keep thinking "GLOBAL" in my head - so sorry. PA800 styles can be loaded onto the PA1Xpro but the limitations and issues are definitely as per the OS update guide.

My sincere apologies if I have mislead anyone here....

Hi Rob

I successfully loaded PA800 styles on my PA1XPro (3.01 only) from a group of styles saved from the PA800.
... just as the release manual (OS 3.01) states.

I used the PA800 styles for some while on my PA1XPro

Cheers
