the way the motif can loop record is totally slick and seamless, being able to keep the sequencer recording and looping while you record on any track you want and mixing in real time from the control panel. I'm thinking with a little tweeking the kronos could be setup to do something similar..............
Use Ableton Live and keep Kronos in sequence mode. Don't record to the keyboard but thru the K to the DAW.
You can do a pass to a clip and as the clip is looping you can add to it. And then as it is still looping change channel/track in Kronos and add another track to Live and so on..
It works just as you describe on the Motif.
I takes a little initial setting up, but it does work. Then again, it's Kronos not a Motif. "They all dance a little differently!"

My Kronos is not at hand, so I'm not sure if the following allows changing tracks without stopping the sequencer.

p. 74 of the Op Guide, referring to the MIX SELECT buttons:
You can also use these buttons to change the Keyboard/Rec track, so that you can switch between tracks directly from the Control Surface. To do this:
1. Go to the Control Surface tab of the P0: Play page.
2. Set CONTROL ASSIGN to TIMBRE/TRACK, using either the front‐panel button or the onscreen tab.
3. Check the box on the right‐hand side of the screen, labeled Link KBD/REC Trk to Ctrl Surface.
Now, you’ll be able to change the Keyboard/Rec track directly from the Control Surface.

I'm about to go try this right now.

the manual is correct in that you can use it to select the different tracks from the control surface (and this does make it quite a bit quicker to select the tracks), but you CAN NOT do it while the sequencer is engaged. You must first press the stop button (to stop the sequencer/recording) then push the button to select which track you want to record/play.

again, it does make the process quicker, but I don't know if it's fast enough to satisfy the ones that want it to be like the Motif/Fantom G sequencer.
