I'd imagine that's the only way to send and receive audio...
Yes, that is the one - The iPad IS the PC in this scenario...
OK, tried that and after setting the audio source to USB and turning on the Sampling Rec the iPad sounds came through.
Playing Animoog with the Kronos sounds great.
Surely Korg could do something with an app for the iPad (and Android) / Kronos - what a combination.
The iPad Animoog app picked up the Kronos as a source for midi - being able to play Animoog with the K is awesome. Almost like having a Moog hardware synth.
Should be able to use various midi sequencers and Thumbjam from the iPad to the K.
I've also used a usb extension cable so I can play into the K remotely - standing up for a change.
You can also just route the USB Audio bus directly to L/R in GLOBAL mode on the Kronos.
Choose the basic tab, and then the Audio tab, change Bus Select on USB 1 and USB 2 to the appropriate output/fx etc...

This is a GREAT find! I never knew they made these. Charge your iPad AND use the USB port? I love it!
Can you also use a USB hub on it?

No, it's for charging only. I use a mini USB cable and the same sort of USB/AC power brick that I charge my cellphone with. I've found that the iPad itself is fairly finicky about what sort of of devices will work via the camera kit at all, let alone multiple ones. It's not a PC, so don't expect it to act like one and allow you to daisy chain 127 devices off that one port thing. If you haven't bought the camera kit, I'd suggest getting the Apple one and steering clear of some of the 3rd party ones. I had to go through 2 "generic" ones before giving up and plunking down the $30 for the Apple one. The generic ones would constantly disconnect and reconnect or give me a "usb device not supported" error when I plugged them in.
Sorry, I'm confused - you wrote:

Why would a mini usb cable be required? The iPad usb on the Camera Kit is normal size - same on the Kronos?
Take a look at the linked Amazon item in my post. It's a little plug that goes into the iPad and allows you to connect up the Camera connection kit AND has a mini usb plug on the side that allows you to charge it at the same time. Normally, you can only do one or the other, because there's only the single plug on the iPad.
When I get home tonight, I can get pictures to show exactly what I mean.

No need for a pic for me at least, thanks anyway. Others might appreciate it though. I understand what you mean now.
This thread rather reminds me of the early cell/mobile phones where the extras (like the battery) were many times larger than the device.
Picture... Arriving to demonstrate iPad sound with small iPad, camera interface, Kronos, ups, power conditioner, digital sound desk, DI (or transformer), amp, speakers, 16 pairs of headphones (borrowed from Sina), etc.

The Kronos shouldn't really consume any power via the USB B connector, since it has its own power supply.
Only difference is that I have the iPad 2, but that shouldn't really matter?
I haven't got an iPad 3 to test with so I can't confirm if that's the case though.
Stupid question follows: ( )
Have you tried rebooting both devices before connecting?
no didn't reboot both devices, but i will try it with an older ipad. I have multiple ipads in the studio, but only tried it with the newest ipad. But you could be right that the older ones work. Will try that tonight and will let you know.

Perhaps the iPad needs to be fully / well charged or at least have some minimum level in this situation?

My iPad 2 was and I had no problem connecting.
I would check that as well. I have an Ipad 3 and it works just fine with the Apple branded camera kit. Maybe try a different usb cable?
