Exactly, because that is the only way it is currently possible. You just further made my point.
And I guess you missed mine...

If this is really hampering your workflow, you may really like the way Yamaha handles it in their Motif series. It works exactly as you described. Except that
1. Programs (voices) still share master fx (general reverbs, etc) with the other programs in a combi (multi/performance).
2. There is a severe limitation on the number of FX in program (voice) mode to guarantee that you can fit several together later on.

I don't know what to tell you. Scrolling and auto-assigning fx seems nice for your stated purpose. But it would create really complicated routing issues. Personally I like the way it works right now and I have zero issues with it. I think your main issue still comes from wanting to change programs within a combi from another location (Forte) which I don't believe is technically necessary.

I'm all for discussing desirable behavior for our synths but I understood you were a performer and then the discussion should focus more on "how can I work with what I have" rather than "I wish they had made the synth work another way".

... Not at all, it was crystal clear. Anyway, I am glad it works well for you.

Another point to co0nsider (and learn from) is that not all the IFX assigned in a Program are ffecting the basic sound as it wakes up. If you take a look at a given Program you will often see IFX that are set to Dry, and then can be brought in with a Knob, of the switches etc. So these extra colors are not heard until you add them with the controller. So when you are building a Combi if you first study this you can find more room for additional IFX by:

1) not bringing them in in the first place (which requires manually Copying IFX from a Program - one by one

Or:

Copy All Used from a Program, then going back in, cutting the unused IFX and moving forward.

Maybe you already knew this, but I just wanted to bring it to light for those that may not know this already.

I've always wondered about that! :D

Thanks, I completely overlooked this.

Exactly! I recently posted something very similar.

It would great to have a feature with an additional IFX routing option for every track in the Combi that says "Use Program Effects". This way, if you change ANY program in the combi -- whether it is changed manually or via midi program change message, the effects from the program would be automatically loaded. Or better yet, this feature would not even use the IFX slots, it would just simply use the program effects that it took hours to tweak & save in each program.

Yes, in the current KronosX or Kronos2 you could run out of IFX's or just not enough RAM to handle the load if too many programs are loaded. In my case, this would not be an issue as I would only be using 3 or 4 programs.

Anyway, this would be a great feature for a future upgrade and/or the next Korg beast.

Still searching for some kind of work around,
Andreuz
I wonder if it is that simple to get it from the original program, I mean every program has 12 IFXs and with 16 programs you easy get over 12. But as long as it stays below 12, it should be possible to automatically use the program IFXs instead of copies in the combi.

That's what I would have thought, but apparently not according to others who have replied to this thread. Hopefully, you know something that no one else knows. Is there something that needs to be set to make this possible? If so, how do you do it?

On another note: I have found a work-around. It is not perfect, but works. In the custom Combi, I assigned my favorite IFX effects to each of the knobs leaving 2 options:

1) Manually control each effect ranging from Dry to Wet using the knobs... something similar to what jerrythek pointed out. So now when I "Scroll for Programs" or send "Program Changes" (from external software) to any of the track/channels in the Combi, I can adjust the effects on the fly to suit a particular song.

2) Adjust the IFX mix by sending effect levels using from external software.

Important Note: to keep all Piano, Organ, Strings, Brass, etc on the same respective midi channels, some of which I am not using any effects and/or only certain channels are effects being applied. For example, you certainly would not want to apply "Delay" to a channel that has Strings (at least not in my world).

So if anyone is doing something similar, this is a decent work-around.
