I've got an IT degree as well... and in my research, it seems as if it's just a "myth"...

just sayin....

I don't know for sure because I don't have a Kronos yet... but very soon.

well if that's the case would you like to sell your stick that came from the manufacturer? So I can have a matched pair in mine? I mean since you won't need yours anymore...

Sure you can buy it off me... but, if you're in the US, it would be cheaper from here: ($25.99 free postage)

Same Hynix RAM that Korg used (HYMP125U64CP8-S6) :)

Here's how to avoid this : instead of pasting the
link into the post *directly*, paste it between tags like this : [url=paste link here ... splay here

example: Kronik's link.

Hello Kronik

Post by LorenKronos73 »

Yesterday i upgraded my kronos 73 to 4gb.

You won't beleived i used 2sticks of Corsair XMS2 DHX (They are very tall)

http://www.corsair.com/memory-by-produc ... c5dhx.html

and it fit well, very close to the enclosure.(good for K73,K88, but i don't know if it will fit well on the k61)

I bought them for a desktop that i never build 1 years ago.

at newEgg they sell them for 64$ 2*2gb Corsair XMS2 DHX

link:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6820145176

i must say that my kronos seem to work more smoothly.

It work very well.

Thanks Again

So danatkorg, is this a legal option for upgrading RAM. Does it really work and will it void my warranty?

No, wait until next month and get it done at a registered Korg Dealer.

Hey guys,

As many of you know, I have been having issues with Kronos in that I need to be able to load Kronos Assault (GREAT library BTW) and still keep the stock patches. The problem can and will be solved by the upgrade. But, when I was talking to Ian and Max at Korg they BOTH told me that opening the Kronos now BEFORE the OS update WILL void the warranty.

So, I am waiting until Korg gives the go ahead. What I don't get is that memory is CHEAP and why Korg didn't just put 4 GB in this beast - the RAM is off the shelf stuff afterall.

Ahimsa,
Vlad
Current gear: Kronos, Jupiter 80, Kurzweil PC3,Roland Fantom X8, Roland XV-88 (yep, its old, but the ACTION is heaven and those XV-3080 sounds are still wonderful for me), Radias-R, Motif ES (yeah it's older but I love the guitars ;) )

not sure if I'm the only one, but I have no intention of doing this!

Not until I get some kind of green light from Korg.

I had the unit for 3 days for c.... sake.

Upgrade 73 ram to 4 gig

Post by robkeith »

I would believe, just as in the case of the Oasys, korg will put out a detailed sheet on how to upgrade the ram. I mean it's not rocket science, and I can't see the service depts being worried re this type of an upgrade, when it can be written as an easy guide to installing additional ram. As I said same as Oasys

You are probably right, I mean, it should as simple a changing RAM inside a PC.

Let me rephrase what I said, I have no intention of doing it unless I'm really stuck for memory. I can see Korg doing an OS update down the road to take advantage of the whole 4 gigs of memory. At that point, I'll know we have their blessing.

You only have probably to remove many more screws than a PC.

Yes I know, it's nothing rational.

There's always a element of risk, how minimal it may be, and at this point, I don't see why I should take any.

I don't condemn those of you doing it, actually, I'm rather happy since it benefits the crowd.

It's a personal thing. Perhaps when it's older than ...3 days.
