I've seen a lot of people cover JR in Dream Theater - she does one of the absolute best jobs in all aspects (sound creation, pach changing, and technical playing).
And have you ever tried playing a keyboard backwards? It is a LOT harder than you might think!
Especially the second video is really good ... I also had organ lessens but never learned two play with both feet pedals.
Playing with two feet isn't unusual for classical organ (church/concert). I was trying to figure out if she was actually doing something with the percussion with her feet - could just be her in time with the percussion track.
Thank you all for showing me this incredible organinst! All I can say is WOW! Freakin' unbelievable.
On to the big question!
Has anyone MIDId a second keyboard up to their Kronos to act as a second manual for organ playing? I've got a footswitch to change my leslie speed but haven't tried connecting another keyboard to be another manuel. I have 2 synthes above my Kronos and think it might be cool to have 2 keyboards to do organ stuff.
If music is the food of love, play on and play loud!
Gear: Kronos 73, Wavestation EX, Polysix, King Korg, Monotron and Monotron Duo, Minikorg, Moog Grandmother, my very old MiniKorg, 4 acoustic and 9 electric guitars, 1 Ibanez 5 string bass, a Steel guitar, a bunch of microphones, 2 pairs of studio monitors and other very cool toys, 1 wife and 4 cats and a lava lamp!

Started working on this a bit today, only I hooked up two additional keyboards via a MIDI merge box; Kronos 61 on MIDI channel 1, Korg TR61 on channel 2, and a Privia (weighted 88) on channel 3. I'm planning on getting a set of MIDI bass pedals and put that on channel 4.
One of the first things I noticed that I need to get a new stand real quick. Coming from an organ background, I need to have the keyboards as close together as possible. Right now I'm using two sissor stands. The Privia sits on a stand below the other stand which can hold two keyboards - but no where near as close as it should be for sitting down. Looking at the Standtastic stands that people have been recommending here on the forum.
Anyhow, I started by building a combi with the organs on channels 1 & 2 and piano on the Privia. I find I'm going to actually have to make my own set of organ programs on the Kronos. The problem being that you cannot share the Leslie/amps between programs. I've been told elsewhere on the forum that the way to do this is to route both organ sounds through an IFX using an amp/Leslie. I've also heard that some of the other tube amps are better then the amp choices you get with the CX3 Leslie simulator, so I'll have to look into that. Definitely put the O-verb on at the end of your fx chain. That's the sweetest reverb I've ever heard!
Haven't figured out how to make the sliders default to drawbars for the top keyboard (Kronos) in combi mode yet. That's kind of important to me. Hopefully someone can shed some light on this subject.
Latest Set Up: Kronos 61, Casio Privia, Korg TR61, EoWave Ribbon, Roli Rise 48, TEC Breath Controller, StudioLogic MP-117 Bass Pedals, Moog Theremini.
Past Instruments of Construction: Hammond A100 w/Leslie 760, Korg R3, Roland AxSynth, Korg Poly61, Korg M1, Univox MaxiKorg, Korg MS2000, (2) Moog Concertmate MG1, (2) Hammond X5, Rhodes Mark I & 2, Farfisa Compact, Yamaha S08, Casio SK1, Strymon Mobius, Custom Bass Pedals, Burns B3 Theremin.
I'm using the Ultimate Support IQ 3000 stand with the IQ 300 arms for 2 additional keyboards. I know I can fully adjust them to get them almost as close together as on a Hammond. I own a Hammond M-3. It's a baby B3. I'm familiar with the whole organ feel thing, not that I'm really good with it though. Most of what I've been doing is a really good fake. Mind you with out roadies who really wants to carry a B3 and a Leslie? The other thing to remember is does the audience know?
There are are educated listeners out there but in my experience they are few and far between. Sad but true. Far too often when I'm starting a tune that uses a soft subtle organ tone I hear. "YEAH! Skineard!" I'm starting an original tune of course. Something a little more progressive, and I'm not in any way knocking 3 guitars, killer keyboards and southern rock! Try playing any Doobies. You better know it or yer gonna git yer ass kicked!
I've got to go to bed now. Beered out!
