Updates for announcement do not fall in the category of whistle, hmm or psst.
However, software is sometimes very tricky and too often difficult to plan. So I can imagine they might have encountered problems which are seen too late. Of course this does not mean the announcement dates should be updated.

I kinda tire of these type posts. I mean, is that precious JP80 the be all and end all? NO, neither is the K. My Kronos works great, no issues except: I am waiting for the update and I'm confident it will eventually arrive...I demoed the JP80 for hours against the Kronos. I CHOSE THE KRONOS, hands down, slam dunk, way more features, more versatility ...end of story. It wasn't really that close.sparkie wrote:whistle..whistle... humm..hmm.. Pssst..Pssst...Hey I heard that...Psst..Psst.. and they said..Psst..Psst... and its a secret so dont tell anyone....
Is your super duper JP80 a very nice keyboard? Yes it is. Are your supernatural sounds limited? Yes they are, depending on the preset, not 256 poly absolutely. Does the JP80 sound nice? Yes it does, and so does the Kronos. Why don't you wait on the Roland forum for some Roland updates or perhaps when they might add a sequencer, or any other of the Kronos features. You'll be Rip Van Winkle before you can expect ANY of them. I guess you could always spend another $2200-3200 and get a Fantom G, midi it to the JP80 and---bingo, you'll have a complete board.

p.s. No offense make to any of you who own the JP80, I probably would like to have either it or a Kurzweil PC3K in the future. They are both great boards. His trash talk just gets annoying, like a spoiled kid that dropped his ice cream cone on the ground, gets another flavor and makes fun of his first choice.

Yes, that would be extremely cool. BTW, I certainly made it clear that I thought the JP80 is a great board as well. My patience for his rants momentarily wore thin! Also, you never answered my pm.JuneauUnderground wrote:Nah! MIDIed that worthless JP80 To the Kronos, and vice versa. Now that's neat. I dont know why You people do this and dont let Korg do their job the way
they are supposed to do instead of rushing things? Let them finish it the way
its supposed to be instead of worying about customers who dont even know
why they purchased Kronos. It will be here...when? Then!

ghehe, a FG6 and a JP80 together would be utterly stupid. 2 times the same brand is never smart, but in this case the FG6 is a disaster to work with. I am trying to sell mine (for a reasonable price), but there is no interest at all. Which I understand. It's completely outdated, yet still the top workstation of Roland, the one who competes directly with the kronos.DennyC wrote:I guess you could always spend another $2200-3200 and get a Fantom G, midi it to the JP80 and---bingo, you'll have a complete board.![]()
Sorry, don't mean to be harsh, but I am heavily disappointed with the Fantom G series.

You're missing the point. Nobody of the halfway grown ups (I don't count childish posts) is rushing or bashing Korg. Delays can happen for various reasons. I hope it was not your arabic scale transposing problem.BasariStudios wrote:I dont know why You people do this and dont let Korg do their job the way

After an announcement it would just be helpful to stay tuned and leave a sentence about the state of things, instead of dealing with three different announcements from four Korg sites and a lot of user speculations.
I know it's hard to communicate, but is that asked too much???
Concerning the JP-80: has anyone heard of any Roland update? I know they can't deliver a decent set of controllers for the poor board, but perhaps they could be merciful enough to allow users little basic things like patch exchange?

An update would be nice but the Jupiter isn't bug laden so users aren't clamoring for an update. Roland also hasn't created any expectations regarding an update. What I'm hoping for is a more comprehensive update like V synth's 2.0 further down the road. A few empty sound categories make one think more sounds will be forthcoming.jimknopf wrote:

The Jupiter has limited tactile controls but it also offers controls that other boards don't. If it doesn't work for you that is understandable. Personally, I appreciate the unique approach and find no hurdles to creativity in the control setup.

Jim, you make a point and i agree with you to a point but still...i am a third
party develloper, lets say tomorow i announced new libraries for Kronos and
one Demo of those...now, does it matter when will it get released? A month
or a year from now, i dont think i can be held responsible for a release date
cuz few of you got excited cuz of the libraries...
I dont know if you understand my point.

I wouldn't dare to say the Kronos is bug laden.Bruce Lychee wrote: An update would be nice but the Jupiter isn't bug laden so users aren't clamoring for an update. However if you would call it that, one can also consider the JP for being bug laden, since it has limited tactile controls.
The new updates is mostly extra functionality not announced when the Kronos was announced.

I wont call it BugLaden either, people usually fail to understand the difference
between a bug and a Wish...if something is not there it is not a Bug, it is just
NOT there...a Bug is when something is advertised but it is not there...as in the
Kronos case things like SF2 support which is 0, it doesnt even support it and
few other things.

Well I'm hoping the note cutoff is simply a bug and there are certainly a number of user discovered bugs that have been discussed here with requests for fixes. Although the additional functionality is certainly welcome, it seems to me that making it work as designed makes it more a matter of urgency for many users and potential buyers. The Kronos has more functionality so I'm not surprised a few bugs have cropped up. The Jupiter hasn't really had any significant bugs reported, so while users welcome an update, there really isn't a sense of urgency. This isn't a knock on the Kronos. Simply a difference in circumstances.michelkeijzers wrote:I wouldn't dare to say the Kronos is bug laden.Bruce Lychee wrote: An update would be nice but the Jupiter isn't bug laden so users aren't clamoring for an update. As for the Jupiter and tactile controls... I'm not sure how that has anything to do with bugs. Personally, I appreciate the unique tactile controls the Jupiter does have and haven't run into any hurdles using the existing controls. Furthermore, I welcome the way many SN sounds rely on playing technique rather than other controllers to affect the articulations.

The BIG thing for me is this.....
Does Kronos actually work without this update? YES!
So whilst an update sorting out issues and adding some tweaks improvements will be welcome, it's not going to stop me using the instrument.
It will happen when it happens.
Simple.

Sorry Jick, my intentions were to just suggest the theoretical technical potential of the combination of the two. I hope you can find a buyer to help ease the pain. However, two of the same brand can be very cool.jick wrote:ghehe, a FG6 and a JP80 together would be utterly stupid. 2 times the same brand is never smart, but in this case the FG6 is a disaster to work with.
