If you consider Korg a Pro (I guess so you will) ... they have additional sounds they sell, and there are others too.

The minor tweaking takes the longest, and is usually where I personally fail at some sounds and have to start over with a different approach. I'm still tweaking Separate Ways by Journey, even though it sounds really great. When A/B'd with the original, it's not quite 'there' yet.
FYI, I will be including all of the sounds for Tom Sawyer, Subdivisions, and maybe one other Rush tune.

Check out the MOD7 libraries that Korg made available for the Oasys... A lot of them aren't tailored for specific 80s songs, but some of them are amazing.

My band used to cover What is Love by Haddaway, and I could *never* get any of the synths to sound 100% right. I'd love to get my hands on the synth bass, lead, and organ patches from that song.

PS: The closest I HAVE heard is a patch from Kurzweil. Perhaps I could tweak that one a bit closer. I KNOW Kronos CAN do it, but I am just getting comfortable with AL-1 and MOD-7. Perhaps the answer lies in combining the two engines since I do not own a Mellotron to sample it.

I have your 80's soundsets for my Motif XS. Can't wait for the Kronos versions..
I have a couple requests for sounds.
Journey - Faithfully (arpeggiated part near the end)
Steve Perry - Oh Sherry intro
Styx - Come Sail Away (middle section mainly)
Styx - Renegade (synth sound)
The Who - Baba O'Riley
Foreigner - Cold as Ice (synth sound before 2nd verse)
Van Halen - Dreams
Bon Jovi - Bad Medicine
Whatever you could do that would be great! Can't wait for the Kronos soundsets you are working on!

Since I mainly do sequences and play a live keyboard part, I have found three weaknesses in the current Kronos programs:
(1) Guitars - both acoustic and electric (by far the worst)
(2) Reed instruments - alto and tenor (by far the worst)
(3) Brass instruments - trumpet ensemble and solo - trombone ensemble.
As many of these are critical to all types of music, even a few good programs of each would be welcomed by many and would apply across a broad range of users.
