How important is the Editor to you.

With all due respect to the posters involved, that's a pretty bold statement.

Has it occurred to the posters that some people can work with hardware just as quickly as those with a software front-end?

I'm full aware of the virus ti and good it is, but there's a world of difference between editing on the virus's lcd panel compared to Kronos.

Suffice to say that the VST should be here. It isn't though. And for most people (according to he poll) whilst it will useful when it appears, won't render Kronos unusable in the meantime.

I have never had or even seen and editor. That said, it obviously had no influence on my decision to buy a Kronos because that was a forgone conclusion as it is the evolutionary step from the Triton. I would like to see it though because I do a lot of sequencing and if it makes that easier and faster, I could use it.

sorry for this stupid question, but what's the purpose for the editor?? If it's something like korg ps60 or juno stage editor where we can customize sounds and create our setlist, i'm sure it will be very important...

Hi Jeremy,
If you're a hardware type of guy and computer/software related stuff don't really play an important role in your music life in general, what makes you think downloading a small application like this editor could make any difference for you and your band???

For many of us, having an editor would make the Kronos fit right in our work flow. That's a big deal for me!

Kronos is a lovely instrument, and that's why I voted "I can wait".

I seriously considered getting a Kronos last year and one of the main reasons was the promise of being able to run it as a hardware VST/AU/RTAS plug in within my DAW. This so far hasn't materialised and therefore, Korg have lost me on buying this instrument no matter how good it's touchscreen is for editing. I don't like to be bullshitted with so called 'vapourware' and Korg have really put their foot in it with the announcement of the Kronos software editor. Perhaps it shouldn't be a deal breaker for me as I edited my 'vintage'(!) Korg T3 directly from it's tiny LCD way back in 1991 and I'm visually impaired! However, this is a matter of prinicpal and Korg simply shouldn't have bullshitted to users.

The other 2 big reasons for me avoiding purchasing a Kronos was that Korg chose to omit those excellent M3 Xpanded sequencer features and the fact that it takes 2.5 minutes to boot up the Kronos..... hardly a good thing for a supposed live performance instrument.

I'm keen to see the next version of the Kronos that should no doubt be out in 2013-2014????? However at the moment, despite the massive amount of synthesis power in the Kronos, Korg haven't enticed me to split with my hard earned money and I'm perfectly happy using my Kurzweil PC361 performing live with my band as a Kronos with it's 12GB+ sound library seriously doesn't sound any 'better' than my PC361 with it's 64MB ROM (with the big exception of the acoustic pianos). And don't get me started about those terrible sounding guitar programs! Korg must steal someone from Yamaha to show them how this catergory is done!

I bought the Kronos even the editor was not available, I can use the Kronos without problem, of course the editor would make my work a little easier.

I hope they will release it at the musik messe 2012

I'm definitely in the "it's a bonus but no big deal" category. Been making lots of serious music on the K for a very long time now. The lack of an Editor is in no way impeding the awesomeness and musicality of the Kronos for me.

The promised editor should improve workflow especially within a studio environment.

1. Easier to program and create new patches using a much larger screen. It could also allow you to see a lot more parameters at any one time without moving through a lot of different pages and sub menus??

2. Possible Integration with a better control surface giving more real time control over a greater number of parameters??

3. The use of VSTi's will enable greater integration with your studio DAW and allow you to call up and edit sounds directly from within your DAW.

4. Editor/Librarian integrated together to save/load your patches/combis/set lists.

I'm in the "couldn't care less" category which isn't an option in this poll.

I'm a performing artist and my Kronos is never even near my PC. I use PCG Tools to prepare set lists from home and take them with me on a USB stick.

You know what? I think that's a totally ligit category of its own. If you'll never midi your keyboard to a computer or whatever, why should you even bother thinking about an Editor. That makes a lot of sense in your case.
The only time i have problem with this is when people use their personal preference as an excuse to make a case for others.

I've just spent a considerable amount of time moving and re-setting up my studio and the Kronos is the centerpiece of said studio. I'd like to keep everything hard-wired and would like the ability to control everything from just the computer interface, preferably VST or AU, as I use Logic Express 8 (upgrading to Pro 9 after getting a MacBook Pro with Lion).
Because of all of this, I think it's still fairly important that I get my hands on the editor; but, considering how much gear I have isn't even MIDI-able (Moog Rogue, TB-303, MC-202, Juno 6) it's not a huge problem. I like the idea of the editor coming out soon; but, I can wait a little longer since I'm still exploring the breadth and depth of the Kronos a year later...

I think I can see where the editor would be useful but since I don't have a computer in my studio yet and don't know when I'm going to get one, it's of no consequence to me at the moment.
The other consideration for me is that I'd have to totally reconfigure my studio and I'm lazy.
