hard case advice original kronos please

Did the Korg case have wheels on one end?

Just got home with my new Korg Kronos hard case.

When I spoke to Korg UK yesterday, they were keen to emphasise that it's a hard shell case, not a flight case. However, for me dashing round the UK playing gigs it's perfect. A combination of solid protection whilst not being prohibitively heavy (8.22kg/18.12lbs) The build quality is comparable to a Gator ATA case; I have one of these for an RD700nx stage piano and it has given solid and reliable protection to my RD for 2 1/2 years (my only beef being one centre handle on a 40kg stage piano is a ridiculous design flaw, but I digress!)

This case is silver, not black as I'd expected, and it does have recessed wheels on one end. Inside, the Kronos fits snugly into a fleece lined cradle, while the inside of the closing lid is lined with goodl quality foam . It's a perfect custom fit for the Kronos2-61 with zero movement inside. There's also a small section just big enough for a power lead. Outside, there are 4 twist locking latches, and 2 sprung handles (which are embossed with the Korg logo); one handle in the centre, plus one at the opposite end to the wheels.

Overall it seems well made, and worth paying a little extra for. My only slight reservation is that in silver rather than black, it is far easier to spot in the boot of a car, but that's easily fixed with a black sheet thrown over everything.

I too have the Korg case. I am using it for several years now. I started with a Gator, but it broke within a month. The Korg case is very good and I like it a lot. The only remark I have, are the wheels. They are a bit small, so when using them outside on a pavement that is not completely flat, the case may scratch once in a while the ground. Otherwise I am very happy with it.

Jeremy - the case retails for £299, but I got it for £225. Still a lot for a case, but I thought I might as well go for what is basically a custom case for the Korg. It doesn't seem as solidly made as my Roland RD, so getting the right case was important.

Pricey and a single handle.
These companies don't seem to give a stuff about people having to carry and lift these singlehandedly.
For a K73 with two handles on the side it is much easier.
God knows what it is like to own a K88!

Oh definitely pricey But hey, it's not like an overhead; you don't buy a Kronos everyday, so why not protect your investment?

A Kronos2 61 is perfectly manageable with one handle in a case, but I quite agree, anything heavier and it does get silly. My 40kg total weight with the RD is a complete nightmare. Fortunately that case has a handle at each end and I can usually coax the singer into helping me carry it
