Hello Tom,
Sounds like the editor is pretty good. I did get a chance to look at the manual and it looks like a nice setup that will allow you to use the editor on any/all Nano products.
I am expecting a NanoKey and NanoPad any time now. I will be connecting them to a Windows xp based laptop so I will see if I get the same startup problems. Maybe we can get you fixed.
Regards,
Rick

Works with Pro Tools?
I picked up the Nano Kontrol and think it looks sweet!
Only problem is I'm having a hard time getting it to work with Pro Tools. Anyone tried to hook it up and have any instructions to help?
Thanks!

VJ resolume with nanoKEY and nanoKONTROL
hi
i'm a VJ using the nanoSERIES with my VJ software resolume 2.4 and so far it's working nicely - except that the nanoKEY is a bit fragile - knocked off a piano key already!
and they do look/feel like "toys", but function like true midis.
overall happy

UPDATED APRIL 16 2009:
i tore up the nanoKEY, that is, i broke 3 more piano keys, so that makes 5 now. and i'm not a musician, i'm a VJ! ...did play a little piano as a kid though.
anyway, ended up re-buying korg, the older microKONTROL, wanted *real* piano keys. however, having a little bit of issues with sliders mimic-ing one another: http://www.korgforums.com/forum/phpBB2/ ... 245#283245
the nanoKONTROL is fine, works fine still, but now i will be using the microKONTROL, unless the 'mimic-ing/jumping' control of sliders becomes a bigger issue...then i'll use nanoKONTROL in conjunction with the microKONTROL ; already tested it and both work on my usb ports together (yeah!)
overall, it's a tool and we're lucky to have the technology we have

Nanokontrol with Logic Pro 8
Hello,
I've just bought a Nanokey and a Nanokontrol.
I can't control the mixer in Logic Pro 8 with the NanoKontrol.
It seems Logic Audio doesn't understand standard midi CC.
I finally found how to affect Logic control to the faders/knobs/switch.
(Logic Pro > Preferences > Control boards > Assignation learning…)
You must click learn button in Logic then you select the command you want to drive in Logic, then you move the fader you want to use on the NanoKontrol then you click again the learn button…
I have to do this for each controller.
OK, but it doesn't work properly.
For example :
I have assigned volume to 8 faders and pan to 8 knobs for 8 tracks in Logic, it works great. Then I have assigned first switch to Mute for the track one. Sometimes I must press this switch once sometimes twice (??) and it's also affect the pan in track 3 ????
After a while, the first fader also affects track 3.
I've made a lot of tests and still don't arrived to configure NanoKontrol with Logic Pro 8.
If somebody have an idea…
Another thing, I can only control my virtual synths with the NanoKontrol inside Logic, is it normal?
Thanks for your answers.
If somebody can help me 'cause I really love to use this small toy with my Macbook, it's exactly the good size for me.

PS : Sorry for my bad english.

TOY?
Ha, I just ripped my neighbor off selling him my old blue gutair. He's gona love this if he advances enough to use it. I am not a gutair player because there is always something wrong with the ones I get and they never work...the blue a new lookin Yam AES8 with perfict action/intin for cheap because something was broken and lookin at me holding it in a picture in the right light showed the defective part if you looked close enough... But this looks a bit diferent from Heros....a bit more real and Pro level to use and wonder what Jimmy would say if he heard himself this way. Cool guys.
John^^

I haven't seen NativeKontrol's software mentioned much here, but if you have a nanoKontrol, their nanoLive software is really powerful and flexible - for $20 it is an absolute no-brainer.
http://www.nativekontrol.com/nativeKONT ... oLive.html
There are several modes, but I leave it in basic mode, use the arrow keys on an external number pad (usb) for navigation, and a nanoKey to trigger clips.
The fact that it is template independent is great - no need to map functions (and there is a user mode which you can map yourself).
Anyway, I am absolutely delighted with this software solution - read the manual, and you'll see what it can do.....
Best Regards,
Chuck

Yeah, I wanted to use the Nano Controls to control the nrpn/cc volumes, etc in my EM-1 & ER-1 mk2. It is the perfect size for them (for both my live electro/techno sets and) in my cramped space studio.Bigs wrote:That nanoKONTROL looks like fun.. too bad it's USB-only, it could also be useful when connected directly to a synth.
Is there not a possibility of us MIDI fogies being able to use a usb-midi box between the nanos and a midi synth to do this, or do we MUST have to have a 'laptop lying between the 2' to do this?
BTW, I am a hardware only musician so please be gentle if my question is non do able!
Solutions/Help most welcome?
KORG NANOS
Got all three of them! Went to a Mac Store, and was looking for a compact kbd, an M-Audio, but was lucky enough to find the Nanos!
I take the Key, in my laptop case, and use it with reason when I get stuck between appointments in my dayjob. It kind of works as a sketch pad for ideas. The only one I cannot figure out is the NanoKontrol. Posted a question in the forum. Anybody here knows how to use it as a real time mixer with Logic Express 7?
Reason 4, Logic Express 7, Garage Band, M-Audio Keystation88, Roland D-5, Korg Poly 800II, Roland SH-09, Roland TR-505, Alesis SR-16, Yamaha DD-50, Boss 8 channel Mixer

I guess you need a laptop in between. I used to be a hardware only musician til I got reason. I still have my Hardware synths, even a pre MIDI analog monophonic. I am going to test your concern, with my D-5 being controled by a Nano. Let you know how it works! 8)
