Me again,

I was getting so confused about which app worked with which midi controller and interface so, I created this matrix. Accurate as at 23rd Dec 2010.

Hope it's usefull for others.....

Great job, wmp. Very cool. If you don't mind, I'd like to add to the list. I'll recreate your template in Excel, and add a few apps/devices.

Sure thing, it's just a start....... I think midi compatibility will guide my purchases from here on....

I just tried the ims20 with the line 6, and it doesn't seem to be compatible.Works great with other apps but not the korg, I have a camera kit just haven't tried it yet. The line 6 would be better, in my opinion, because you have actual midi plugs, so there is no need for a USB port, and can be used with boards not having USB.

I hope ims20 will incorporate the line 6 in future upgrades.

If anyone has made the ims20 work with the line 6 please let me know :(

I'm with you there.... but for the time being I will use the CCK and the Line6 interface

iMS-20 & nanoPAD

Post by bunchy »

How is it working out for you?
It works but the nanoPAD pads map only drum#1 with different pitch.
How can i get it to trigger the other 5 pads?
It should work because ive seen this done in Korgs video that was just released.
Perhaps the Kontrol Editor but then what are the assignable midi values?
They are not listed from:

nickdebello wrote:Hi Guys, I apologize in advance for my complete ignorance in this matter, but... is there a "battery-powered powered-USB-Hub" out there? Is saw one which is unavailable on Amazon. Do you own one? Did anyone try one in the iPad setup?

Nick
I don't know, but I'd be very interested in the answer to this too - not just for the iMS-20, but because I bought a bit of hardware, the Shure X2u XLR-USB Signal Adapter http://www.shure.com/americas/products/ ... al-adapter which I thought was going to be able to let me connect all my mics to the iPad via the Camera Connection Kit, but it won't work because the iPad can't provide sufficient power via the USB connection.

Obviously I can go out and buy a USB mic and it will work just fine with just the Camera Kit - but I've got something like $4000 worth of quality mics sitting in my cupboard right now and frankly I'd rather use them than a Samson C01!

The only thing I can find that looks like it might possibly do a similar job to that deleted Amazon gadget you mentioned is this one http://cgi.ebay.com/4-Port-Solar-Powere ... 1e5fe1f952

The trouble is I can't find detailed specs for this unit - it definitely is a USB hub and with the right cable it can be used to transmit both data and power - but how much power? Who knows? And how long does it take for the solar power panel to charge the batteries, and how long will the batteries last before being drained.

But I know stuff-all about USB hubs, let alone if this can provide sufficient power for my needs - or indeed if it is even capable of making the appropriate connections between my hardware.

Here's how I'm guessing it might work: plug a short USB cable into the Camera Connection Kit and connect it to the hub; plug the X2u into a port of the hub; connect my microphone into the X2u - and pray that the hub will provide the extra power required to make the X2u operate!

If powered hubs are working to provide sufficient power to get non-compliant controller keyboards to work, then this might also work to do the same job but you could use your keyboard away from a 110 volt (in the US) or 240 volt (almost everywhere else) source of power.

If anyone does know about USB hubs can you give me an opinion on whether this would work? Both with controller keyboards and with the Shure X2u?

EDIT I've had advice from a trusted source that a battery or solar-powered hub will definitely not work for this sort of use.

He suggested a possible alternative, but warned me he could not guarantee it would not fry my iPad! The method he suggested is a USB splitter plug that connects to the iPad Camera Kit and allows you to connect a data cable from the splitter to the X2u, and a USB battery pack to the other port of the splitter plug.

I'll seek further advice from other sources on the safety and practicality of this method, and report back. END EDIT

Edirol PCR-300

Post by blue_heron »

Hi all,

Midi works with my Edirol PCR-300 and Apple's USB connector.
I had to attach a power supply.

Has anyone created a control map for the Edirol PCR?

Question: is it possible to control the two Effects values via Midi?

Thanks

Just got my camera connection kit :D

Bit like taking a sledgehammer to crack an egg but I can report that the M50 works with the app.
It even has built in MS20 parameter maps for external control which saves having to create any

Since IOS 4.2 the USB Intensity decrease to 100 mA

I test with battery cell and then this message appear : USB device not compatible...

I just received a MS20 controller as part of the Legacy kit.
It does not function with the iMS20 due to the power fault.
I would like confirmation of just what reliably works. Does a powered hub? A Y cable (aux to charger or pc)? Is the ipad choking due to the power, or is it that it refuses to support the device because the device reports it takes too much power? I'm thinking of making a custom Y cable - MS20 Vbus to charger (5V supply), data only to Ipad conn. kit.... As no power Vbus from/to ipad it may play nice.
