they all have that cut off ,staccato sound when you play soft and legato. ...
I can realete to that.
Unfortunately, I had the same experience.
Same here :( Checked with several Kronos @ Texas...

Also, the keybed replacement for my Kronos is supposed to arrive on April. This makes at least 2 months waiting for it.

I'm really sorry, Bruce. Since I knew you had a problem from the get-go, and keybeds have been replaced left and right, I assumed yours should've been fixed. But you know what they say about "assuming". Wish you all the best and a speedy fix.

No problem. Just waiting and hoping that I can enjoy the Kronos as it was meant to be in the near future.

Exactly. The units are failing all over the world, it seems.
My same experience, the same as yours, is far from texas: Europe, go figure.

Unfortunately, same problem here with my KORG KRONOS 88

Post by copajaus »

Bought it new in November 2011, was thinking that a new O/S release could potentially fix the problem but it did not.
I am just in a process of contacting my music dealer so he can lodge a warranty claim to the importer. No new key bed for me, only the contacts are going to be replaced apparently... hopefully it's done properly... cross fingers....

I still think that it is unacceptable at this price range to encounter such a major issue with a $3700 keyboard... it is the first time I have issues like this one in over 25 years; I have been playing with many synth/keyboards during that time.

I am a bit surprised, I had a Korg KARMA, a Korg M3, a Korg PA2X and I never had issues with those before.

My 3rd Kronos 88 is back at the dealer getting fixed - they have had it for over 2 weeks (thanks sweetwater) which means a lot of down time without working. I am really surprised. My Triton hasnt had a a day down since about 2000. Go figure.

Hummm, doesn't sound too good.

Quality control is a major issue these days. everyone wants to sell more goods which don't last so you will have to buy more...

My Yamaha SY77 I had back in 89 weighted at 21 Kg... It was only a 61 keys synth. I kept is 17 years and sold it (I should not have), it was immaculate even after all that time.

The KORG has 88 "weighted" keys and weight what? 23, 24 Kg...???
Obviously, materials have changed but lot's of corners have obviously been cut.
One them being the key bed, may be I should have gone for Nord Stage 2, they look like durable instruments...

Let's see what's happening, I am still waiting for arrangements to be made so I can get my KK88 to the repair center, so far, no news.

If this is dragging too long I sell it, i don't have time to waste on unreliable instrument.

I still have an X5, N264, Triton Extreme, M50 and Kronos. The first weight about nothing and still is in perfect working condition, same as all others btw.

So weight does not say that much.

You are probably right, weight is not a main consideration factor.
The NORD Piano is only 18Kg but is apparently well made.

Anyhow, to cut the story short. Got an email form the dealer yesterday, I bring my KK88 in today for "service"...
I hope it's not going to take too long...

Whish me luck...

KORG KRONOS 88 Repair...

Post by copajaus »

Hi there,

(Spalding12) Just following up on my repair status. It's been nearly 2 weeks, they told me it could take up to 4-5 weeks...!!!

The keyboard apparently went to "the" official Korg repair center in Sydney, Megtronics.

I am a bit worried about the all thing really, it's really easy to stuff up a key bed. The idea of changing ALL the contacts doesn't really appeal to me much, I would rather have my all key bed renewed.

Will post more infos when I get it back.

Cheers.

hmmmmmm...
nothing about that timing and planned repair makes me smile

again, i'm wondering IF the "X" models will have some "UNANNOUNCED" "FIX" for the keybed issues?

i know that korg cannot "IN PUBLIC" say that there has been some improvement, but... maybe they've fixed it, anyway

KORG 88 Repair...

Post by copajaus »

There is not much I can do but wait, I don't really have any other choice at this stage.
I give them the benefit of a doubt...
I wish it did not happen though, at this price range one must expect better things.

I don't think the X is going to change anything really, just a bit more space so you can buy more expansion packs, that's about it. The keyboard I believe is the same.

May be the X2?, X3?, X4.....????

Cheers.

thanks for your reply
i'm sure you are right about the "X"
the thing is: they've replaced HUNDREDS of defective keybeds... surely they must have changed SOMETHING at SOME point... no?
