Volca Beats: Change Pattern Via MIDI In

Hello, I'm trying to figure out how to change the pattern via MIDI signal from any DAW (I have tried quite a few thus far) to the beats' MIDI in. I've so far figured out how to play the individual drums themselves through MIDI, but I still can't quite figure this out. Any help would be appreciated, even if it's DAW-specific.

This was something I was hoping to do when I first got my Beats. I'm no expert so cant explain why, but as far as I know it isnt possible. Best you can do is just sequence the parts from your DAW.
