Kaoss Pro turns off and off on its own

Post by ammanuel »

Has the been an issue for anyone?

In the midst of playing the Pro cuts off all together and it turns itself on.

I checked the power supply works fine.

Any help is appreciated.

Thank you.

Ps. Since I don't have the warranty anylonger I will be looking for a device with similar function or better, I prefer not to if it's fixable.. Any suggestions?

edit: If its power ON and OFF by itself when the power is set to ON, means the power button of the kaos is making intermittent contact!
Switch many dozens times the powerswitch/button fast on/off to clean inside, IF still not help, then Replace the power-switch.
Or any other bad components inside the kaos!
---

You could try download the KP3 Service Manual, the power section should be the same:
http://elektrotanya.com/korg_kp3_sm_ver ... nload.html

---
If it cut off power intermittent, could be:
1) power cable/plug of the powersupply/kaoss plug contacts is broken/loose, wiggle cable/plugs insert/unplug etc..

2) switch the power-switch on/off dozen times to selfclean/check if the powerbutton is loose/defect etc.

3) some power/buffer capacitors inside is bad, open the kaoss case and check the bigger capacitors in the power section for leaking or top popped caps.
-Or any burned/brownish components (resistors/diodes/ic/ransistors)/print etc.
-Check for very hot components, put finger on top of any components housing IC's, transistors etc. when the kaoss still in working with power on etc.

4) Check/inspect for loose components solder/pins/points on top/bottom of the printboard etc.
