Touch screen latency?

Post by MusicianSickness »

Just bought a new kronos 2. My touch screen is not very responsive...anybody else have this problem? It takes like a sec to know its being touched
Also have it midied to an akai mpk61...and the velocities are super hot on the controller vs the kronos.....
Please advise...

I have a new K2-88 and notice no screen latency. 4gb RAM, optional second SSD (though I haven't used that yet)...

What is being used to interact with the touch screen? I find the blunt end of the finger not so good, but using the fingernail works best for me. Some people use a personal organiser type stylus. It may also be worth calibrating the screen, using the preferred fingernail or stylus, or whatever.

On the second point, the velocity response curve can be changed to one that suits your playing style. "Super hot" can be less than ideal.

I think its an acquired touch, when I wanted to punch mine I decided to use a stylus.

There's no noticeable latency. If it *feels* like it's latent, what's happening is that your touch is slightly off (as mentioned in replies above), and wanders slightly on the screen until it hits the right place.

As mentioned in the Quick Start guide, it's really CRITICAL to calibrate the screen. Try that first!

The stylus is a good suggestion, too, particularly if you have fat fingers... Just sayin'...

Mine does not always registers the touch. It beeps for the touch sound but
takes no action and have to touch again. I think that to be a common issue with resistive type of touch panels.

If it beeps, that means that the touch was noticed by the software. If nothing happens, that means that the touch wasn't in the right place. I'd strongly recommend calibrating the screen. Read the description of calibration in the Quick Start guide.

I have calibrated screen, i guess its my fat fingers. I will look into a stylus, i like that idea anyways. Also my good buddie told me the velocity issue with akai is just that, akai controller doesnt have as many velocity layers as kronos, hence the brightness when playing on akai

Thanks Dan,
Have calibrated many times.
It's bit better now but still a lot of false positives Both with finger and stylus (I use a Wacom intuos pen)
