Taktile 49 and Live 9 - no sound outside 1 octave?

Post by quenepas »

Hello Everyone,

I hope you can help on this.

I am facing a strange problem. Just purchased Live 9 Intro version. When I load a VST in it, I am able to play only one middle octave from my MIDI keyboard Taktile 49. The other Taktile keys (only 15 out of 49 send notes) would trigger random parameters like changing from session to arrangement view. The transport part of the controller work as expected. I can see the MIDI light come on when those 'unused' keys are pressed.

The controller when used in other daw's/vst's, work as expected and i can play all the notes, full range. But only in Ableton, I cannot do it. When pressing the OCTAVE +/- buttons on the controller, the notes change as well and the octaves shift from the middle part of the controller to the left or right depending on - or +.

Instructions done from controller manual: 1. Display the “Scene” parameter with the page ◀/▶ buttons, and choose “Live” with the value slider. 2. Open the “Preferences” window, and choose Mackie Control in the “Control Surface” section. 3. Specify the DAW ports of the taktile in the MIDI input/output section that you want to be used by Mackie Control.
Reading elsewhere seems I have to use the natively supported and manually setup section together: "There are a number of instances in which you will need to mix and match settings from both sections. If the controller is also a keyboard (an akai MPK49 for example) and you wish to use it to input notes to MIDI Tracks as well as using the natively supported faders and knobs [which I get from mapping Mackie Control -OP], you will want to also enable a Track MIDI input in the Manual control section for the device."

The problem is that I cant find anything within Live to MIDI map the keybed, only those parameters for Transport when clicking the MIDI button top right of screen. I have seen this issue around other forums but unfortunately, no solution has been posted or tried without sucess.

Thanks!
