Korg Minilogue 4 voice poly analog ....
www.instagram.com/synthjam has the scoop ...
13in Retina MacBook Pro, Quadcore i5 27in 8GB iMac, Logic Studio 9.1, Ableton Live9, Push, Volca Beats, Korg KRONOS 61, Korg Arp odyssey, Roland D50, Yamaha SY85, Moog Sub37, Roland TR8, Roland SP808, Korg NanoPad2, Eventide H9, Presonus 1602, Alesis M1 MkII, Yamaha APX5, Fender Splattercaster, DrumKat DK10, 1000 miles of cable !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Very interesting.
It's a shame the camera was being operated by a 2 year old though. Everything is blur.
Or, is this one of those accidentally on purpose leaked promo's that you get more excited about seeing blur more so than the ones accidentally on purpose leaked in focus.
Regards
Sharp

Minikeys..
I think Roland of lately showed and proved to the world that its better to create a desktop version instead of a mini key version, and then let people choose what keys they want to add...
Or am i the only one looking the other way as soon as i see minikeys?
For the rest, i like the concept of this synth...

Searching for information I have just found an interesting site about keyboard size: http://www.smallpianokeyboards.org/keyb ... story.html
For my hands the best keyboard amongst Korg instruments is included in OASYS88. But I also enjoy playing for example the KingKorg, SV-1 or MS-20 mini. It also depends on which type of music material I want to play, of course.
I think "small size" is a general term and doesn't help too much to decide if a keyboard is usable or not. Because the usability and comfortability is a deeper question: it depends on many factors like key width, key length, key height, key shape, key mechanism, key material, sensitivity, responsiveness etc. - and also personal preference. In short: we have to try it ourselves.
It seems the Minilogue keyboard will be identical to MS-20 mini, RK-100S or ARP Odyssey - a kind of middle-size keys. That is quite playable, for me. Surprisingly, even the smaller Yamaha Reface keyboards are also nice and comfortable. (On the contrary, Roland boutique keys aren't.)
So, I am waiting for this new exciting analogue polysynth. Maybe Korg will issue it also with usual keys.

Fourvoice is NO useful polyphonic format from my view, no matter if Roland, Korg or others offer it. Six voices are simply a necessary minimum for most of polyphonic play. And while I get by well with four oactaves for poly synth play, three certainly won't do the trick.
The whole Japanese Bonsai keyboard culture development by Yamaha, Roland and Korg is reaching absurd dimensions meanwhile IMHO, far beyond the casual useful and welcome additional micro keyboard besides other gear.
The rest may be quite interesting, but how much more interesting would a six-voice with four octaves and an acceptable pitch/modwheel unit have been?

Let me guess, Jim...you don't like this product.jimknopf wrote:Fourvoice is NO useful polyphonic format from my view, no matter if Roland, Korg or others offer it. Fair enough. We all have formats and products we can't stand.
That said, the Yamaha Reface synths have been selling very well, better than Yamaha themselves expected. So these "Bonsai keyboards" have resonated with more than a few buyers, obviously.
Obviously, full-size keys and three wheels don't necessarily matter to them.
All I care about is whether the Korg Minilogue sounds good. The 3 most important features of any synth to me are sound, sound, and sound, in that order.

I am not impressed from what little information there is. The pattern is established from the Monotrons, to the Monotribes, to the Volkas and now this. I discount the re-issues since they are not originals.
From a business standpoint it does make sense in that it slowly tests the waters and slowly builds market share and revenue as they all will sell nicely.
Very nice for the price range and I'm sure it will be a hit. This is just something that I am not really interested in. I hope they keep moving onward to a more robust synth.

Concerning the mini/midi keys: as Bachus already mentioned, I think Roland's solution with the Boutique series is very elegant: you're given a choice. I'm not a fan of mini keys, but I will be the first to admit that if the sound of a synth does not appeal to me it makes no difference whether it has full, mid, slim, mini or even micro keys.
Eight or even six voice polyphony is great, but given the targeted price point of $500 (if that rumored price is correct) it will be very hard to realize this voice count at that price.
It will be interesting to hear the Minilogue in action.

Oh boy! Minikeys. 4-voice. 3-octave.
I'm out of touch - I just don't get it.
Clearly there is something I don't get in modern hardware synthesis. I concede it's me. All these synth companies clearly agree on a lucrative market for these. Perhaps it's just small size for small studios and setups in apartments. Beyond that, I just don't get it anymore.

Korg has sold over 300,000 Microkorgs. They pretty much defined this space and are, without question, the market leader here. With the Microkorg long in the tooth and if the rumors of this being a real analog in the $500 price range are true, they've seriously trumped the competition. Consider everyone else is selling VAs or monophonic analogs in this range. The thing has 41 controls, preset memory and 16-step sequencer.
The keys could be the same as the ARP Odyssey.
