So is Korg done with Kaoss Pad and Kaossilator Pro lines?

Post by SMK »

It's been a long long time since we have heard anything about building back up the Kaoss and Kaossilator lines. The best I have heard is the Kaoss DJ which, by looking at these boards, didn't really hit a raving home run. Also, we got a some of the kiddie kaoss's with repaints, yet again nothing else beyond that.

I am wondering if because the Electribes now include all the Kaossilator features and some Kaoss pad functionality it seems redundent for Korg to boost the Kaoss brand. As a long time Kaossilator Pro user I have since went with the new Electribes because of these Kaoss features. The Electribe 2 is like a Super Kaossilator Pro, it's awesome! The Electribe Sampler, even better.

So what is everybody else's thoughts on this? Were the new Electribes built to satisfy both the tribe and Kaoss communities? Is there little call for new Kaoss Pro line gear? Is Kaoss dead?

Your thoughts!

I still like the old ones.
I use multi Kaoss pads.
The mini Kaoss pad 2 has some brilliant improved effects and is very portable with 1/8 inch sockets, ideal for other portable pocket gear.
I have two KP3s ,but would be interested if a "better" pad came along.
Also I didn't take to the E2 even though it was apparently a no brainer. I took too much notice of the wars on our other thread there. The sequencer wasn't what I felt my studio needed and I have an OP-1 for mobile that covers sort of similar ground.
Each to there own with that  but you may be right about the market..for the time being.See how the market changes in 5 years maybe. At mo my local shop is still stocking some Kaoss but it does seem end of line.
Grab them cheap- I got KP2 and KO2 for £50 each, Xdisplay.
The minis rock, even the OG KO mini.
They've deffo had a good run off them.
