Going from R3 to Kross ?

Post by Trouble042 »

Hi, i know these are two diferent kinds of instruments. I need a larger keyboard for rehearsals with a jazz/rock band and i think that a kross 61 will do the job.
The R3 is great also, but since my finance are not that good, i was thinking on selling it.
Is there something big that i'll miss from it ? The kross has a step sequencer and vocoder function, which are relevant features that not most keyboards have, but is there something i'm not considering well enough ?

Keep in mind that i really like the R3, but it seems to me that with the kross i'll not need anything else.

Keep the R3, get a Kross or similar to control the R3 via MIDI to give 61 keys capability. Mix the two together, as necessary - R3 for some pieces, Kross for others, both mixed together for the rest. It just seems a shame to be getting rid of gear that does useful things. Scrimp and scrape (one beer less a day/week or whatever) until the finances get back on track. I held off for years getting hold of gear and they were in some ways years lost.

Couldn't have said it better. I sold my first SH-201 because I felt I didn't need it anymore. I bought another some years latter. I would not sell my R3 even if it was to buy a new synth. I love the sounds I can get out of my R3 and the sounds people create with it. It's a really lovely little synth.

Thank you for replying. I think i'm gonna keep the little monster.
In any case, the only thing that set the R3 apart is the sound engine or is there other function that the Kross does not have ? Thanks again !
