Still in love
Almost five years on from the day I first picked up my Kronos, I'm still in love.
The past weekend was miserable and stormy here, so I spent all of Saturday locked away with my Kronos. I had a chance to play around and explore some features I'd never really used in great depth: Mod7, Time Slicing in the sampler and sequencer, in-track sampling, re-sampling of programs through IFX. Mod7 alone kept my occupied for a good few hours as I played around with making some really nice ambient drones that envy those my friends make with their analogue modular rigs. I also had a play around with wave and vector sequencing, as well as sampling direct from CD and mutilating them beyond recognition.
Every now and then, I have occasional gear lust - and then I realise that I've still only explored 20% of the possibilities of this thing.
Today, the Kronos still forms the heart of my studio and I find myself being more creative and more inspired by it then I've ever able to be with a PC based sequencer.
One of the best purchases I've ever made.

Exactly the same for me!SeedyLee wrote: //Every now and then, I have occasional gear lust - and then I realise that I've still only explored 20% of the possibilities of this thing.//

Korg Kronos 2 88 ; The River ; Cubase 10.5 Pro ; PC Win 10
+1
But the problem with these post telling KORG how much we love their instrument and how little we have explored it they will never release e new updated version since the one released almost 5 years ago is still not outdated (and will not be for a decade)
Is the Kronos to good for todays market? I would say yes, but i would still buy the next updated version
regards avr

Yep!!! Gear lust has hit me over the last few months
Even bought a Kurzweil PC3 from being bullied (nicely) for a long time by 2 colleague who own them.
Borrowed (thank heavens I didn't buy) a Nord Stage 2 to try from another colleague (Nord fanatic) who claimed the Kronos has second-rate audio out DACs and is 2nd rate.
Well I put the Kronos away for 2 solid weeks.
The Nord comparison was a no-brainer - it doesn't even emulate the "B3" accurately anyhow - I found the Leslie emulation very unrealistic at the top end.
I really focused heavily on the PC3 - learning editing, programs & setups following tutorials etc etc... many hours.
Started to like it (hey it's not a bad machine) but boy, it's unfriendly.
Then after 2 weeks decided to play my KK1 and could not believe how much I was blown away (again!).
It seriously sits above the rest IMHO (although I accept that it is all very personal and subjective)
My PC3 will probably be for sale but might keep it as a closet keyboard or for emergencies.
Yes - Kronos is amazing and I too would buy a KK2 (or latest) if my KK1 ever dies
Pete

These kinds of posts may seem superfluous and self-indulgent to some, but as a recent convert (3 weeks and counting) I find them encouraging.
This is the most I've ever spent on one instrument, and my first Korg product (been a mostly Roland/Yamaha guy for the last 40 years) so it's reassuring to hear folks say they're still happy after 5 years.

Too often forums are full of posts complaining of problems - I just thought I'd turn the trend!

I agree, forums can give an unfair negative perception. MostSeedyLee wrote:Too often forums are full of posts complaining of problems - I just thought I'd turn the trend!
of the stuff is training or knowledge related.
I did a similar " love your Kronos at 5 yrs " topic last month.
I think about 100 owners also posted and had stories.

Well, I've got a complaint.
Since I bought the Kronos.
1. I don't look at my wife in the same light.
2. My children are no longer number one.
3. My dog is over weight.
4. I have too many speeding tickets from racing home.
5. I eat too many sweets and too quickly waiting during the 2 minute boot up.
6. I don't recognise myself in the mirror due to late night, early morning
Composing.
7. I have no idea what year it is.
8. I think I am Beethoven.
9. Is this earth?
Basically, yes it's awesome.

Ive only had my KRONOS for about a year and a half.
This might sound over the top, but KRONOS has changed my life.
The whole songwriting and creative process has become super easy, compared to my old rig.
Plus i was able to streamline my studio by getting rid of some gear that KRONOS made obsolete.
Every time i fire up KRONOS, i feel like a kid entering disneyland.
KRONOS is pretty much my entire studio.
I am greatfull to KORG for creating KRONOS.
I dont think i could deal with writing music with a pc.
Another super cool thing is, i know i will always discover new sounds, and things to do with KRONOS.
