Selecting A Preset Midi Template.

Post by chelsea4023 »

Hi,

Just bought a used PA900 for a great price, and I am currently setting it up to use 'Organ' style. This is PA900 as the upper keyboard, Casio 88 note PX5-S weighted piano as the lower keyboard and a Roland PK5 pedal-board for bass.

The PA900 will cover Upper 1,2, and 3. The Casio will cover Lower and the automatic accompaniments and the bass can be allocated (when not using automatics) to the Roland PK5.

When you play a piano sound on the lower keyboard it sounds better than actually playing the sound on the upper section on the PA900 (probably because the 88 note weighted keys allow for more expression). On the Yamaha forums, the top Tyros models often get slated by the owners for their default piano samples, the reason probably being that the sample is not being played on a fully weighted 88 note keyboard, instead a 61 or 76 note synth type action keyboard.

Not being a techie wiz, I am bumbling through the midi setup and was amazed to see all these Midi templates, for Master keyboard, three accordian settings, a setting for using a tablet and a couple of players settings. Strangely, there is no setting for 'organ style' or if there is, I cannot find it. For over twenty years organists have been using arranger keyboards and building organ set-ups around them. A dealer in Leicester (England) sells his own customised Korg Ultimax organs, based on the PA600 and the PA900. A Yamaha dealer in London sells similar products based on the Tyros and PSR S series arranger keyboards. God knows why the manufacturers won't recognise the 'organ' connection within their Midi settings.

Chris

p.s. Three accordian Midi templates. Doh !!!
