CHANGED THE KEYS ON MY PA4X 61

Post by Xx_Joey_xX »

Hello All

I did this previously with the PA3X61 and now I did it with the PA4X

I never liked the pa3x pa4x keys, they are of great quality just not to my liking I prefer the SYNTH ACTION feel something along the lines of the KORG M3 61 or YAMAHA MOTIF 61.

I changed the entire keybed since no keys can fit the original keybed.

here are some pics/videos. 8)

Hi,
I would like to change the keybed in my PA900. The original one is dreadful.

Hmmmmm ... I can't access the pics you linked up. Is there a trick to view your suggestions?
I'd like to revitalize my PA900 keybed, once I start using the PA4x live. I'd be very interested in what you did to your keys, and the actual cost. Thanks

Hello All

The keybed that I used is a FATAR 61 KEYBED I believe it's the FATAR TP7
It can be found in the STUDIO LOGIC SL161 controller. It can be found for about $50 to $120 dollars.

You would have to remove the original keybed from the pa4x. Then remove the contact board and the additional board from the original keybed and install them on the FATAR keybed. This is a simple process really.

It gets a bit tricky is having to drill new holes in the bottom sheet metal of the pa3x/pa4x and align then with the bottom legs of the FATAR KEYBED.
Also you will have to use plastic metal washers glued to plastic spacers with a rubber washer on top (pictured below) and attach them to the bottom of the FATAR KEYBED legs since they are not as long as the original pa3x/pa4x legs. I used 12 legs I believe there are 14.

If anyone is really interested I can do my best to write as many details as I can in a future post.

Thanks

I did the same thing a few years back with my PA3X, I was going to do a full swap from PA3x bed to the triton LE 61 bed... but then I decided to change ONLY the springs that sit behind and under the keys and it worked perfectly! Less stuffing around with the same outcome hehehee. Thinking of doing the same now with the PA4X, just need to find me a triton LE now :)

@jugoslovak

It's a good idea, it's just that the pa3x pa4x keys are piano shaped ! I didn't even like how they feel lol

Yes, I know exactly what you mean about the keys... they take a bit of getting used to! I would have perfered if the PA series came out with M3 Key beds... the M3 out of any keybed that I have used to date was the most comfterble for me. Although I don't mind the Kronos bed either... but the M3 bed was 100% to my liking.

I don't understand why the 61 key version could not have full synth action feel kebed and 76 would of been the piano shaped.

people would of had a choice.
